Do your tomatoes look like this???

Late blight
If you've been watching the news lately, you might have heard about the recent outbreak of "late blight" in
tomatoes and potatoes.  Late blight is the pathogen that caused the Irish Potato Famine.  While there is cause for concern, I wouldn't go ripping your potatoes and tomatoes out just yet.  Click on the link below to see pictures of the symptoms.  The disease is so widespread this year because of the distribution of plants through "big box" stores, where one grower with bad plants was able to reach many thousands of customers over a broad geographic area.  Keep in mind, if you bought your tomatoes from us, or you started them from seed, you have little chance of having the disease at this point.  If your neighbor bought them at the "Big Box retailer" and his tomatoes are close to yours, you could have a problem.  So, keep an eye out and check out the pictures on the link below.  We are already sold out of Daconil, the chemical that helps prevent late blight, but will have more by late Thursday.  Currently there is no effective organic treatment for late blight.
