Christmas Joy   By Tiffini CountawayDOZ Tiffini Countaway

Twinkling lights, puffy red bows, and the smell of cookies, ahhh it must be Christmas time again! The world seems brighter around Christmas with carols playing in all the stores and shoppers scurrying around picking up gifts for loved ones. Laughter fills the air and joy can be seen on the face of every child, young and old. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

Then comes January and decorations are packed away, credit card bills begin arriving, and the joy of the season is a faint memory as if it didn't happen. We return to our mundane, uneventful lives and patiently wait for the next Christmas season to arrive to lift our spirits. I have a few friends that start the countdown the day after Christmas!

When Christmas is over I always wish we could somehow keep the joy of the season alive all year long. Of course it would be silly to have lights and Christmas music all year but if we could just keep the joy alive. Perhaps we could if the world would keep the focus on the true celebration of Christmas.

Luke 2: 10-11, "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Did you notice that? Not just joy but GREAT joy! All the 'things' of Christmas are nice but Christmas truly is about the joy of a Savior coming to free us. When we look at Christmas through the eyes of the bible the joy of Christmas can and should last all year. He truly is the joy of the season and all year long.

I challenge you to let the joy of Christmas flow into every season of your life this coming year. And I challenge you to find one person this Christmas and explain to them the true reason you celebrate Christmas. Let them know that His birth was not just a nice story to tell but it was real. Let them know the joy they feel at Christmas can stay with them all year long because it's about a Savior coming to this earth to bring salvation to them.  What a testimony to bring a soul to Jesus during this Christmas season...Joy to the world!

Joyful, Joyful Lord, We Adore Thee   By Lana AdkinsDOZ Lana Adkins

The infilling of the Holy Ghost brings joy that is unspeakable and full of glory.  Joy is one of the nine fruit of the Spirit.  Having this experience places joy in our soul even when times are most difficult.

Many times, we expect the fruit of joy to bring us unlimited happiness and fun times. When we read the Scriptures, we are encouraged to think about what it really means to experience joy.  What does it really mean to have a joyful heart?  Happiness and fun are good in themselves but they come and go with circumstances.  Joy however, is felt beyond our circumstances.

Joy is an experience with God that gives us promises and hope beyond this natural life.  Joy is an attitude we have toward life's experiences.  It is a treasure of the heart.  It is a peaceful feeling when in God's intimate presence.  We can choose to be resentful or we can manifest an attitude of gratitude and a commitment to joy.   Joy comes when we are serving God and doing what He wants for our lives.  When we learn to use joy in our circumstances, situations and the ups and downs in life, it brings glory to God.

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.   John 15:11

Joy is both an outcome of our relationship with the Lord and our source of strength.  The joy of the Lord is our strength.  Nehemiah 8:9  God desires for His people to be strong in Him so He graciously gives us joy. The joy of the Lord is the source of our fulfillment.

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.   1 Peter 1:8

As a mother of three daughters, there is no greater joy then knowing our children walk with God.  Prayer made from time of conception to this day has proven to this mother the power of prayer and His Spirit to work on the hearts and minds of our children.

Thank you all for your burden and passion for the work of God and the Daughters of Zion Prayer Ministry!

1999, World Network of Prayer Director, Thetus Tenney shared an interesting article with Gwyn Oakes about the Praying Mothers of Brazil. Sister Oakes had a burden for this type of ministry and Sister Tenney suggested it as a venture for the Ladies Division. The burden was shared with the National Ladies Committee. Ruth Harvey expressed a desire to work with the program and was chosen as director. From the many titles submitted Daughters of Zion was chosen. Debbie Akers joined as editor of the Daughters of Zion newsletter.

Have you ever wondered why some girls choose to let their hair grow to it's natural length? Covered by Love uses clear, easy-to-understand language in a fun and informative graphic presentation to help people, young and old, male and female, understand this very positive teaching. Timeless truths of Scripture interweave with humor, story telling, historical perspective, hair-care tips and input from two special contributors: Dear Abby and Dear Gabby.
