"It is impossible to govern a nation without God and the Bible." -George washington

"The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him."  -Pablo Casals

I have found in life that if you want a miracle you first need to do whatever it is you can do - if that's to plant, then plant; if it is to read, then read; if it is to change, then change; if it is to study, then study; if it is to work, then work; whatever you have to do. And then you will be well on your way of doing the labor that works miracles.

1999, World Network of Prayer Director, Thetus Tenney shared an interesting article with Gwyn Oakes about the Praying Mothers of Brazil. Sister Oakes had a burden for this type of ministry and Sister Tenny suggested it as a venture for the Ladies Division. The burden was shared with the National Ladies Committee. Ruth Harvey expressed a desire to work with the program and was chosen as director. From the many titles submitted Daughters of Zion was chosen. Debbie Akers joined as editor of the Daughters of Zion newsletter.

Miracles

By Laquita Mullings

Not all miracles are immediate or instantaneous.  It was a three-year emotional roller-coaster ride with 37 blood transfusions and numerous spinal taps, bone marrow aspirations and radiation treatments. There was prayer going up all around the world for him.  One of my main prayer requests was that God would protect his vital organs from all the dangerous side effects of the massive drugs they were pumping into his body. Chemotherapy works to kill bad cells, but it can also do major damage to other organs in the body.

However, in God's perfect time, all things are made beautiful. Now, almost 25 years later, Jonathan is a healthy, great man of God.  He has been completely cancer-free for almost 22 years, and pastors a thriving church in Bakersfield, CA. He is the husband to Cindy, his beautiful wife, and father to two of my wonderful grandkids, 16-year-old Brett and 10-year-old Emilee. He graduated from Cal State Bakersfield with a BS in Geology and from Fuller Seminar with a masters degree in Theology.

A few years ago he was even able to get standard issue life insurance for his family, which was a miracle in itself.  The doctor conducting the exam went over everything Jonathan had written about his health history, and was, of course, very skeptical about him qualifying. The doctor put my son through a battery of tests, but every result came back perfectly normal.  Not one test showed any problems, and the doctor was baffled.  He said, "I have no reason to doubt you, but with the kind of treatments you say you've had, they always leave a path of devastation through the body. Your tests show you've never been sick a day in your life. The fact that you even have children is a miracle in itself."  To God Be The Glory!

While I'll never be thankful for what my son had to go through, I can now see that what started out to be a nearly hopeless situation was actually a miracle in the making.  And that living, breathing miracle is now a daily reminder of God's infinite wisdom and love. At every step of the way, what we couldn't do for ourselves, our God supplied.

Editors note: Laquita Mullings has served as Western District Ladies Ministries President since 2008.  She's been married  for almost 45 years to Rev. Ron Mullings, who is the Western District Supterintendent.  Together they pastored in Bakersfield for almost 30 years.  She has three wonderful children and five beautiful grandchildren.

Miracles......for those who believe in God, no explanation is needed; for those who do not believe in God, no explanation is possible.

Miracle of Miracles

By Christine Stark

DOZ Christine Stark

Having been married to a minister for over 34 years suffice it to say that I have "seen a lot in my day".

We have witnessed physical healings, marriages put back together, family relationships mended, back sliders return to God, financial miracles, one of our ministry staff being raised from the dead, thousands filled with the Holy Ghost and thousands baptized in Jesus' name.  My life has been an awesome journey.

This year I witnessed another miracle.  In March my youngest sister had a cold that kept hanging on.  It developed into pneumonia for which she was hospitalized.  All she needed was rest and time to allow her lungs to recover.  The first week in the hospital was expected, week two seemed a bit much, week three made us question, and by week four we were alarmed.

Being a family of believers we were praying and full of faith.  Friends across the country and around the world were praying with us for Sheila.  On days when the doctors' words were less than uplifting God spoke words of encouragement to us through His servants and through His word.

On April 15, 2011 our answer came.  After an ambulance, a helicopter and  36 days in three hospitals God decided that it was enough.  Shortly after 4pm Sheila drew her last breath in this life.  God performed a miracle.

You might argue that this is not much of a miracle.  Oh but it is!  Sheila now has what can not be taken from her.  On April 15th she got her complete healing.  Sheila lived her life to go to heaven, she just got to go sooner than we wanted her to.  How selfish of us, how selfish of me!  She has run her race and won.  Her crown is secure.  Is there a bigger miracle? I think not.

If in this life only we have hope, we are of all men most miserable!

We miss her terribly but we rest in the knowledge that He "worketh all things after the counsel of His own will" Ephesians 1:11

Editors note:  Christine is Ladies Ministries President of Ohio. She is married to James Stark, pastor of Calvary Apostolic Church, Columbus, OH.  Mother of three terrific children Jamie, Heidi & Jimmy.  Mother-in-law to one great son-in-law, Jason Rasor and grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren Isabel, Ashton and Sophie Kate.

Praise Report
This past friday our women's ministry held it's first All Night Prayer.  We prayed specifically for our children and by faith we will see the fruits of our labor as God works in their lives. There is nothing more moving than to hear the prayer and travail of women in the wee hours of the night as they go before the Lord. -Blanca Gamon. How to Develope a Prayer Team

prayer
"I pray that my children may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18)

In many churches throughout the world God is using prayer ministry teams to revive and renew His church.

A prayer ministry team is a group of two to six people committed to praying with hurting people-both churched and unchurched. The members, men and women who have strong personal prayer lives and a love for people, work in groups of two or three.
What does a prayer ministry team do?
  • Go out and pray with sick and shut-ins
  • Pray with those who come forward for prayer during or after worship
  • Be available for prayer with individuals at specified times during the week
  • Be present at healing services or prayer services to pray with individuals

Churches can expect to reap rich spiritual benefits from the work of prayer ministry teams, including:

  • Answered prayer
  • Freedom from sin
  • Increased use of the spiritual gifts, especially the gifts of intercession, faith, and encouragement
  • A great openness to the ministry of the Holy Spirit
  • A uniting experience of love in the community of Christ.
