If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray,
and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. -2 Chronicles 7:14

Ownership of the Faith
 By Donna Ten Eyke
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." 3 John 4
Moved to pray with a mother troubled for her children I felt the weight of her burden as I reached to touch her. The desperate cries were for her grandbabies in peril; she needed God to work. Remembering her children in Sunday School and receiving the Holy Ghost, my groanings blended with hers until we felt a release. Romans 8:26 "... for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered". Remembering how God answered pleas for my children to take "Ownership of the Faith", a feeling of gratitude washed over me; at that moment they were worshipping in Santa Fe, NM.
As parents one of the greatest challenges we face is to instill a love for truth in the heart of our children. A love so strong they will "buy the truth and sell it not", allowing it to keep them anchored in the calling of God.
Solomon admonished his son to "Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding. My son, give me your heart and let your eyes keep to my ways,". Proverbs 26:23, 26 NIV
Apostle Paul declared "I've kept the faith". He also acknowledged the faith instilled in Timothy by his mother and grandmother. However, Paul knew the young preacher needed to take ownership of truth for himself, so he charged Timothy to keep the faith! "That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us." 2 Timothy 1:14 So often we witness children who never seem to get rooted and grounded; each cross road takes them further from truth. We anguish with them as they struggle to make the right choices, if possible we would do it for them. However, the journey from the pew to the fulfillment of their calling cannot be accomplished unless they take "Ownership of the Faith". No matter how desperately we want it for them they must pursue it for themselves. In a time of such turmoil as the enemy bombards our children with world views let our prayer be, that our children would bind themselves to TRUTH and take "Ownership of The Faith".

Splinters of Life
 By Cathy Conn
Life brings us roses but also thorns.
I love working in my garden. It seems magical to dig a hole, put in a bulb or plant, water it, care for it and then somehow a beautiful flower blooms. Recently, I was in my yard pulling weeds and got a splinter. I don't get as many as I did as a child but they can still zap you when you least expect it. Many times, I have ignored a splinter and continued working until the next morning I remember it very well as it is red and infected. As a gardener, it's part of the job, and does not deter me from pulling weeds or trimming the roses. However, it is always best to remove a splinter right away so the skin does not have time to heal over and the splinter will pull out more easily. As I get the splinter out of my finger, I began to think about the splinters that come to our lives. People can say or do things that prick my skin, or even offend me. I can think about it and let it take root so that it becomes a real splinter in my walk with the Lord. On the other hand, the sooner I get rid of that feeling, or irritation the better off I will be. An offense let go for too long can become almost impossible to remove. Sometimes we like to tell others about the hurt, instead of removing it. Don't allow a little splinter to cause division in the body of Christ. Don't ignore a little splinter of offence until it begins to fester and needs drastic measures from God to get it out of our heart. Oh God, let me be like the Psalmist David who said, "create in me a clean heart and renew in me a right spirit". If the opening left by the splinter is noticeable, it's a good idea to cover it with a bandage to prevent infection. Keep your heart covered with the spirit of God, the oil of the Holy Ghost. It may seem difficult to remove the splinter, but I promise it will be like a load off your back once the offense is lifted.

Praise Reports and Prayer Meeting Ideas This March my grandson, Andrew, age six, was sitting by my side in church. I glanced at him and was surprised to see his little hands lifted high, worshipping God with all of his heart. Tears were rolling down his little cheeks and I watched as he began to speak in other tongues and be filled with God's Holy Spirit!
In July, Andrew Jonathan was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. It was a very special day for two reasons: it was his dad's and grandpa's birthday, and it was also Andrew's daddy's (Nathan's) first baptism to perform as a licensed UPCI minister! What a blessing! His first baptism was his very own son. Andrew came up out of the water with his hands raised and praising God! -Berni Cupoli, LM Secretary of SoCal District

We are praying for the schools and colleges that the children of our church attend. We a letter to the principals, letting them know that the ladies of the Daughters of Zion Prayer Team would be praying for them, their teachers and students during the school year, and gave them an invitation to visit our Sunday services.
Each lady receives a list of the schools, to take a different school each day of the month to pray for the principal, staff and students of that school. We prayed over the letters before they were sent off, asking God to allow His Spirit to move in the hearts of those that received them, and to allow them to feel His presence. We are anxious to see what God is going to do through Daughters of Zion Prayer. -Shirley Wasmundt, Solid Rock Church, Tempe, AZ
This past Monday night we took our prayer meeting to the Hazleton Area High School. A group of eight ladies and our Pastor walked around the high school. We prayed for the school administration, the principle of the school, the teachers, the schools within Hazleton from elementary to high, the students, and last but not lease, the families. There were some points of the prayer walk that a few ladies were praying in tongues. You could feel the awesome presence of God on the school grounds. At the end, our Pastor had us stretch our hand out toward the school and plead the blood over the school and plant the Spirit upon it. We will make this an annual prayer walk when school starts in September. -Pat Hughes, Ladies Ministry, Hazleton, Pa.

Focused Prayer -Obedience
Week 1 - Personal Commitment - Fill us with conviction when we choose to be disobedient to Your Word. - Lord, help us to die daily to the works of the flesh. - Fill our hearts with courage to stand up for moral values. - Reveal any works of the flesh that are hidden within our hearts. - Let there be harmony among us so that there won't be division in our church. - Help us to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. - Free us from all powers of addictions and may we rely on You Heavenly Father for all our needs.
Week 2 - Abominations - Lord, bring death to pride and selfish ambitions that are hidden within our hearts. - Remove all forms of wickedness planted deep within our hearts that are abominations to You. - Create within me a clean and healthy heart, full of love and compassion. - Free our minds from any wicked imagination and purify all of our thoughts. - Bring harmony to the church body and remove all discord among brethren. - Help us to rejoice in the accomplishment of others. - Lord, I commit my life to You this day; strip away every form of sin in my life.
Week 3 - Beatitudes - Lord, I surrender to Your Will, take control of my whole life. - May we continually hunger and thirst after righteousness. - Help us to become more like You as we draw closer to You Lord. - May Your mercy set us free from resentment, bitterness, and hatred. - Lord, bring inner peace to the troubled hearts. - Remove all grudges that are buried in our hearts and give us a forgiving heart. - Lord may we be the peace makers and not be one of the troublemakers.
Week 4 - Ten Commandments
- Lord I pray that the Ten Commandments would return back to the court house, the school house and the white house. - Lord You are the Lord Our God, we shall not have any other Gods before thee. - Lord, we will not make any graven images to worship but worship thee alone. - Lord we will not use Your name in vain lightly, in false affirmations, or profanely. - Earnestly we will remember the Sabbath to keep it holy and dedicated to You Lord. - Lord we will honor and obey with courtesy our father and our mother. - We will not commit murder Lord, murder with our hands nor with our mouths. - Lord, we shall not steal but work hard to pay for the things we desire. - We will not commit adultery or any form of sexual immorality. - Lord, we will not bear false witness against our neighbors but will speak the truth. - We will not covet over things that we do not have. - Burn Your commandments into our hearts that we may not sin against thee.

How to Pray for Evangelist By Margaret Harden Every army that fights a war must have frontline soldiers who are in the thick of battle. The same is true in spiritual warfare. In a spiritual sense, evangelists are the frontline soldiers. They are on the attack against the strongholds of Satan. They must have your prayer support to be victorious. When you pray for evangelists, pray that . . . - They would have the mind of Christ. Pray that their heads would be covered in the day of battle with the helmet of salvation. Pray for divine protection. "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee". (Isaiah 43:2). (See Psalm 91:4-11.)
- They would hear the voice of the Lord and see with eyes of the Spirit.
- They would speak the Word with the power of God's anointing (Luke 21:14-15; Ephesians 6:18; Jeremiah 1:7; Colossians 3:16, 4:3).
- Their hearts would be pure before God. "He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully" (Psalm 24:4).
- Their innermost being would flow with the Spirit. "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water". (John 7:38).
- Their strength would be increased and their health protected. "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water; that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper". (Psalm 1:3). (See III John 2; Job 36:11.)
- Their knees would bend with anointed prayer and intercession and multitudes would be saved.
- Their hands and feet would be guided by the Holy Ghost to do the work of the kingdom of God.
- They would be endowed with both academic and spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding "For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding". (Proverbs 2:6). (See Proverbs 4:7; Job 32:8; James 1:5.)
- They would have God's abundant joy. "For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit". (Ecclesiastes 2:26).
- They would be used in a continual demonstration of the Spirit and power of God. "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual". (I Corinthians 2:12-13).
- The gift of faith would operate through them. "Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and work of faith with power". (II Thessalonians 1:11).
