Spring Will Come By Joyce Gill
DOZ Joyce Gill

Spring comes in different ways depending on the area of the country you live in. The Rocky Mountains are known for long, cold, hard winters with late springs. After a long cold dreary January, February with short days and an abundance of snow, any and all hints of spring are especially welcome. The days begin to get noticeably longer, the skies bluer; the snow is finally all melted. Early spring flowers bloom, the grass is green again, trees leaf out. The first robin is sighted laboring to build a nest for her young. Mothers and children are at the local park. New Life is one of Gods abundant blessings to us.

Parents, grandparents, family and friends all look forward to a new baby in the family. Parents are instructed by God to train up a child in the way they should go. We nurture children in the things of God, training them daily. Small children are dedicated to God. Parents dream of what their child will become; what they will do for God. As children grow and the seasons of life come, children bring us great joy. There is great rejoicing when our children dedicate themselves totally to God and His service.

However, what about the children who as they grow older and the pressures of life and the world beckons to them and they turn away from their early training to the things of the world. The days of spring and joy quickly turn to the dark and dreary days of winter as we long for them to return to their training. Fasting, prayer and a constant calling out to God for them becomes our daily cry. It may be a short season that they are gone or maybe many months or years. Our days of spring will return with new hope when our children turn back to God. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. It will be spring again!

Joyce has helped her husband Daniel, pastor in Salt Lake City for thirty-one years. Joyce is Ladies President of the Rocky Mountain District. She has four children and eleven grandchildren. All of them live near her so spending time with them weekly is a must. She also enjoys cooking, reading and outdoor activities.

Almost a Tragedy By Dana Clemetson
Clayton
DOZ Clayton

January 29, 2010 both my husband and I felt a burden to pray. As we prayed, I felt heaviness and all I could do was cry. After a good season of prayer, my husband felt a great peace come over him so we went about doing our daily activities not giving it any further thought.

Meanwhile Amber, my daughter, and her 3 children stopped at a park on their way home to let their dog exercise a little.  As she was walking down by the river, she caught a glimpse of her six-year-old son, Clayton's red coat as it was disappearing down into the very cold, muddy waters.  With total instinct, she ran into the water after him. Within a few steps she was plunged under due to a severe drop off.  She went deeper, flailing her arms in a panic to find Clayton when all of a sudden she felt him. She grabbed onto him pushing him ahead of her thinking, "I have to get his head out of the water".  She had no place to stay her feet to push upward with Clayton's weight against her and the thought occurred to her, "I could drown also". She kicked her feet with all her strength and finally reached the top with Clayton. A man and a woman heard her scream and came running over to help. Clayton miraculously did not inhale any water and was crying when she brought him out of the river.

God is good! He kept my daughter and my grandson from drowning. I am so thankful I have my daughter and my grandson alive with us today! God answered our prayers when we did not even know what we were praying about!

Dana is a pastors wife, her husband pastors Apostolic Tabernacle in Kennewick Washington. She started DOZ at their church and they have been active with DOZ every first Monday of the month since 1998 when it as first introduced. Amber and her husband serve as Youth Directors for their church and are also very active in Sunday School.

Prayer-What is It? By Thetus Tenney

Prayer is breath to the spirit; it is the lifeline to the soul.; it is the tether to the eternal.
Prayer is communication between creature and Creator; it is the eye into the invisible; it is the ear to the unspoken.
Prayer is the access into the heavenlies; it is the activator of the miraculous.
Prayer is enlightenment to the mind; it is understanding to the emotions.
Prayer is man's greatest opportunity; it is man's daily challenge; it is man's amazing possibility.
Prayer is the mystery of all mysteries.
It is as complex as creation.
It is as simple as a child's talk.
It is the most powerful power available to man.
It is more piercing than a laser.
It is the seed of all things possible.
It is the finality of man's ability.
Prayer is man plugged into God; it is God working through man.
Prayer is creative. Destructive. Cohesive. Dividing. Awe-inspiring. Frightening. Possible and probable.
Prayer is bigger than can be imagined; it is faster than a beam of light.
It is endless in possibilities; it can be more concentrated than an atom.
Prayer is forceful. Tender. Shattering. Healing. Complex and simple.
Prayer has never been totally understood, completely explained, or utterly exhausted.
It is beyond the wisest man's comprehension; it can be effectively used by a child.
All the words ever known can not adequately describe it. Yet it can be reduced to a single word.
Every language can speak it. Only God can understand it.
Practice it and find peace. Believe in it and find faith. Let it consume you and really live.
Prayer-the unimaginable, incomprehensible, obtainable connection between the finite and the infinite,
the earth-bound and the Almighty who fills the universe.
Prayer-God's gift to man.
Use it. Engage it. Revel in it. Enjoy it. Reap from its riches. Sing it. Read it. Think it. Speak it.
"Men ought always to pray..."
The Bible is a book of prayers. There are over 600 recorded prayers.
There are long prayers and short prayers.
There are desperate prayers and prayers of devotion and thanksgiving.
There are requests and rebukes and repentance.
There are prayers of destruction, life-giving prayers, and multiple intercessions.
There are prayers from a lonely woman, a fearful child, a frightened fisherman, a patriarch, an apostle, a prophet, and a disciple.
Leaders prayed. Nations prayed. Friends prayed. Groups prayed. Individuals prayed. Sinners prayed. Saints prayed.
Jesus prayed.
"When you pray..."

Focused Prayer-Resurrection

Week 1 -Body
In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . .
  • Give us thankful hearts for all You have provided, being content and not envious of others.
  • Empower us as a body, with boldness to proclaim Your name to others.
  • Help us to lay aside "every weight and the sin that does so easily beset us"
  • Instill compassion in us for one another, so we will respond when someone is hurting.
  • Let us not forget that our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost.
  • Teach us, as a body, to focus on eternal values and place less emphasis on temporal things.
  • Remember those in the body of Christ who are imprisoned and suffering persecution, as if it were we ourselves. Pray for the 68+ countries where there is no religious freedom.
Week 2 -Mind
In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . .
  • Give us a mind to work for the Kingdom of God.
  • Help us to wake each day with our minds stayed on You, Lord.
  • We seek You for a sound mind and to be full of Your love and power.
  • Help us to believe and obey Your Word and never doubt.
  • Keep our imaginations from evil or negative thoughts.
  • Keep our minds from carnal thinking. Give us the "mind of Christ".
  • Help us to live each day totally submitted to You, being Kingdom-minded.
Week 3 -Soul
In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . .
  • Our soul longs for You, O God. Thy praise shall continually be in our mouths.
  • Your Word assures that "in quietness and confidence" we will find our strength.
  • Thank You that we can cast EVERY care on You, because You care for us.
  • Help us to pray for our enemies and those who despitefully use us.
  • Help us to truly forgive anyone for anything, no matter how deep the hurt.
  • "Envy is rottenness to the bones" but Your love transforms our emotions.
  • As we release all our emotions to You, help us to recognize and use our "gifts" for the Kingdom of God with great joy.
Week 4 -Spirit
In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . .
  • As we grow stronger in spirit, grant us wisdom, which You give liberally to all who ask.
  • Help us not to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, but rather, make us women of integrity and compassion.
  • Give us ministering spirits to disciple others, our lives bearing witness of Your love and power.
  • Grant us the desire to be true worshippers, in spirit and in truth.
  • Though we are sometimes troubled in spirit as You were, the victory will come as we seek Your face.
  • Renew in us a right spirit everyday. Create in us a clean heart.
  • Let the fruit of the Spirit abound in our lives -love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith.

TRUSTING JESUS
By Pauline Payzant

When you are sad and lonely and you don't know what to do,
Just tell it all to Jesus He'll love and care for you.

If you'll just trust and hear Him and listen to His voice,
He'll be the dearest friend to you if you make His will your choice.

Now, let God's spirit guide you and cling to Truth real tight,
He'll wipe away your troubles and you'll start to win the fight!

Creative Prayer Idea

Nail Prayer  Build a wooden cross (size depending on size of group). Give each person one or more post-it-notes or pieces of paper to write a prayer concern on. Invite each person to nail that concern to the cross.

Praise Reports

A Big thank you to the DOZ prayer team. I had my children's names put on the list for prayer that they would return to the Lord. My daughter Jacque Turner  (out of the church for about 26 years) has returned to God and our granddaughter Amanda has returned to the church after about 10 years. It is so good to have them worship along side of me. Our son Eric and his wife are coming on Sunday morning,
that is a start. Thanks to every one that prayed with me. -Aloma Turner, LM Secretay, WI District

November was our first DOZ meeting and what a blessing they have been.
One of our young men had injured his knee. The doctor sent him to a specialist as it looked like he would need surgery. His Mom asked for prayer that the surgery would not be needed. Being a nurse, she knew she did not want this for her son.   The next day the specialist said that no surgery was needed, that Seth's injury  could be treated with physiotherapy. Thank you Jesus. -Mary Pyke, DOZ director, New Hope Brockville Tabernacle.

My six-year-old nephew had sudden on-set seizure like symptoms. The doctor suspected neurological problems. He was anointed with prayer. We had all our friends and everyone we knew also praying. The MRI showed NO damage. His symptoms have abated and the doctors are baffled. We praise God for this continuing miracle!  -Debbie Akers, Apache Junction, AZ

Our church started up DOZ prayer meetings again this year. This was our second one and we had an awesome turn out! Lots of women praying! Our prayer room has been full before church too. The past 2 Sunday nights the prayer in the prayer room was so good! I love it! God bless you! -Calvary Tabernacle, Indianapolis, IN

From the Mail Box

Thank you so much for emailing me this, I am glad that I requested to be on your emailing list. I am currently a backslider and am making my way back to church. I live in Louisiana but used to live in Texas where I attended Bro Charles Fisher's church in Wharton, TX. I can say that by reading this email I can feel the Holy Ghost, again thank you and pray for me. God Bless. -Christine Barrera

Thanks for the encouraging prayer techniques...it will help me pray for my husband. -Mereoni Cavuduadua

Eleven-year-old Isaiah Richardson of the Nova Scotia District sent me an email
Isaiah
DOZ Isaiah
recently that really touched my heart. He has stubborn faith and confidence in God. It read as follows, "I am praying for you! My Grammy had cancer and God helped her and look where she is now!! Now ya get better soon!!"

When I read it, it impacted me about what 'children of faith' are coming up in our churches. Just wanted to share this with you.
-Ruth Keddy, Nova Scotia, Canada
DOZ Girl in the Dress
How exciting! Finally, a book written just for girls-a book about the importance and beauty of holiness.

The Girl in the Dress helps us to realize why it is important to take a stand in today's world on modesty and purity. The authors take an excellent approach concerning the way the Bible teaches us to walk, talk, and dress.
