How to Pray for Others by Carol Clemans Prayer is powerful. There is nothing greater you can do for your family and friends than to pray for them daily with specific requests. In Paul's letter to the church of Colosse, he said he was praying for them, and he listed his specific requests to the Lord, in the Life Application Bible, New King James Version, the following seven items are listed in the commentary of Colossians 1:3-12:
HOW TO PRAY FOR OTHERS:
-
Be thankful for their faith and changed lives.
-
Ask God to help them know what He wants them to do.
-
Ask God to give them deep spiritual understanding.
-
Ask God to help them live for Him.
-
Ask God to give them more knowledge of Himself.
-
Ask God to give them strength for endurance.
-
Ask God to fill them with joy, strength, and thankfulness.
As I look at this prayer list, it speaks to me how we also need to encourage others in their walk with God. When we see spiritual growth in our family or friends, we need to compliment them on their faithfulness to God. James tells us in his book that we need to ask God for wisdom, believing He will answer. We should do this in our own lives and as a daily example to those around us.
By our example, we need to encourage Bible reading and study. If our children do not see us reading the Bible, they will not think it is important. We need to read to them the Proverb of the day and explain the meaning at their age level. It is the Word of God that we "hide in our hearts" that helps us to not sin against the Lord.
How many people in your life could be touched if you prayed in this way? If you are consistent in praying and they are willing vessels, wonderful spiritual and relational growth will take place. Praying is one way we can be a major blessing to others. It only takes a few minutes of each day and will bring rich rewards today and throughout eternity.

I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. -Abraham Lincoln

From Our UPCI Ladies Ministries President, Gwyn Oakes
I feel this is something you should read take action on. We can sit idly by and let a simple minority take over or we can speak out and do something about it. The Lord will help us but He does expect us to take action when it is in our power to do so. Our children's future is at stake. I was very involved in the schools when my children were there as were many of you but Satan is working harder than ever to seduce the future generation.
Read the entire message below and then click on the link and listen and read all of it. Make note of the books that are being promoted and follow the advice given as how to counteract this. Pass this information on to as many people as you can. It takes so little to do a lot with email technology. If you know of other books that are in the schools on this subject please let us know and we will publish the list. I feel this needs to go to as many ladies as possible as we need to know what may be, or already is, going on in the public school system.
FOCUS ACTION PETITIONS
This school year in classrooms across the nation, children as young as first grade may be exposed to efforts to normalize homosexuality. These lessons are part of an overall "family diversity" indoctrination campaign.
Books like "And Tango Makes Three" (a book about two male penguins who supposedly fall in love and hatch a chick together) help form the early stages of "family diversity" education. In older grades, school-sponsored diversity weeks and gay pride events celebrate homosexuality as something teens can embrace and promote a one-sided form of tolerance.
With 90 percent of all school-age children attending public schools, what can a Christian parent or grandparent do about this homosexual indoctrination in public schools? Take Action: Equip Your Local Public School With The Truth! Our goal is to provide you with information on family issues and specific action items so you can help advance the cause of faith and family in this nation. That is why we have set up a new Web site called truetolerance.org that provides you with the resources you need to stay informed on this crucial issue and make an impact even in your community.
It is vital for local school administrators to hear from parents and community members. To help you do that, we have set up a special "Take Action" page where you can send key resources -- with a few clicks of your mouse -- directly to your local school.
Many public school administrators simply assume that they must allow homosexual indoctrination in their classrooms. Nothing could be further from the truth! Use this tool to be proactive in protecting your community schools from adult messages that promote homosexuality to children.
Thank you so much for your willingness to get involved in these issues in real ways that can make a difference. You are truly the "salt" of the earth, preserving our society's rich moral and spiritual heritage.
For faith and family, Tom Minnery Senior Vice President, Government & Public Policy

Focused Prayer Purpose Driven Life
Week 1 - What On Earth Am I Here For In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . . · Help us to discover the purpose You created us for. · Remind us Lord that life is about living for God, not for ourselves. · Don't allow guilt, resentment, anger, fear, or materialism drive our lives. · Remind us that there are eternal consequences to everything we do. · May our goal in life be centered on living a life for God's glory. Week 2 - Worship In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . . · Fill our hearts with passion and commitment to bring glory to You. · I am self-sufficient in Your sufficiency. · We choose to follow You out of gratitude for all He has done for us. · Allow our worship to be authentic, for this type of worship pleases You. · We will praise You in spite of our pain, thank You during our trials, trust You when tempted, surrender while suffering, and love You when You seem so far away.
Week 3 - Fellowship In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . . · Teach us to love unselfishly and guide us into living a life of true love. · Put a desire in the hearts of people to be part of a healthy church. · Let us strive to work for peace and getting along with each other. · Help us to passionately love the church in spite of its imperfections. · Show us how to resolve problems instead of being a part of the problem. Week 4 - Discipleship In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . . · Produce Christ-like character in us. · May our lives be a life-long commitment to follow You. · Put a desire in our hearts to become "doers of the Word". · When we're faced with problems or trials, remind us Lord, that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. · Help us to not look at ourselves but to realize God's purpose is greater than our problem, our pain, or even our sin.
Week 5 - Ministry In The Name Of Jesus Christ We Pray . . . · We start out our day asking You, "Whose needs can I meet today?"
· We were made for a mission, may we truly seek to fulfill our mission. · Put a love and passion in our ministry that we might achieve our purpose in our calling. · May we use our God given abilities for the purpose of edifying the Body of Christ and bring glory to Your name. · Cultivate our gifts and abilities so that we will be increasingly more effective in our service.

PRAISE REPORT
Canada
In December, Rebecca had just given birth to twin baby boys with complications. She requested prayer that the babies could be home for Christmas. (Drs. had said no-way) We prayed over that request and this dear family. The report is that the baby boys were indeed home for Christmas and as of January 27, weighing 10 lbs. each and VERY HEALTHY. The family is so thankful to the church for praying and they now believe in miracles. Of course, we are praying for the miracle of salvation for this family now. -Mary Pyke, DOZ director,New Hope Brockville Tabernacle, Brockville, Ontario

Sister Oakes had a burden for this type of ministry and Sister Tenney suggested it as a venture for the Ladies Division. Sister Oakes shared her burden with the National Ladies Committee. Ruth Harvey expressed a desire to work with the program and was chosen as director. From the many titles submitted Daughters of Zion was chosen. What people are saying...
"This is the book I longed for as a young woman with questions about faith and fashion; the book I searched for as a mentoring resource; and the book I desperately need as a mother raising a daughter. The Girl in the Dress speaks to the heart of modesty not as rules without reason but as treasure to protect. Each chapter is packed with powerful biblical insights and practical applications for living a pure life from the inside out. Written in today's conversational style, girls will connect with the concepts, blessings and guidelines of moral purity." -Julie Long
"The Girl in the Dress is one of the best modern books I have read on modesty for young ladies. This book is rich with fresh illustrations and relevant Scriptures. It is refreshing to see modesty presented in a humorous and biblical way. I appreciate that the authors establish the fact that modesty is not the pinnacle of spiritual maturity but rather the tip of the iceburg. This presents a formidable counter attack against the mentality of minimums and restores the pursuit of relationship!
"Thank you for not being afraid to tackle the "hard" questions that every Apostolic teenage girl asks. I highly recommend this book to every young lady in pursuit of living a holy, modest lifestyle for Jesus Christ. I intend to get this book into the hands of every young lady in the X7 Student Ministries as well as my two-year-old little girl when she is old enough to understand. Thank you." -Aaron Batchelor |
