I GIVE YOU MY HEART By Peggy Readout
My children always looked forward to celebrating Valentine's Day. Each year we set aside an afternoon in which to craft valentines from colored construction paper, lace doilies, stickers, beads and glitter. These special tokens of our love would then be sent to family members as well as to special friends. I remember one Valentine's Day crafting session in particular. After all of the valentines were completed and my sons and daughter were sorting their various masterpieces into envelopes for mailing, I noticed that my daughter had set one beautifully crafted valentine aside. When I questioned her, she showed me the valentine. It was addressed to Jesus. She explained that since she couldn't mail it to Him, she would just have to wait and give it to Him in person. After all, He was coming back to get us someday. That particular Valentine's Day came and went without my daughter being able to personally hand the valentine to Jesus. She was disappointed, but not discouraged. Telling me that she was going to save her heart for Jesus until He did come again, she tucked the valentine away in the small dresser drawer where she kept all of her special treasures. Eighteen years later, as I was helping my soon-to-be-wed daughter pack her possessions to take to her new home, I discovered the valentine for Jesus still tucked in her drawer awaiting His return. For all of those years she had been saving her heart for Jesus, and she continues to do so to this day. Remembering this incident brings to my mind the first commandment: "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." (Mark 12:30) Isn't this what we desire for our children's lives? Isn't this what we desire for our own lives?
To honor the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our heart. To worship Him with everything that we have within us. To live for Him alone . . . until He returns.

ALL TIME IS VALUABLE -Author unknown Even though it is FREE...
To understand the value of one year:
Ask a student who has failed a final exam.
To understand the value of one month:
Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby. To understand the value of one week: Ask the editor of a weekly newspaper. To understand the value of one day: Ask a daily wage laborer who has 10 kids to feed. To understand the value of one hour: Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet. To understand the value of one minute: Ask the person who has missed the train, bus, or plane. To understand the value of one second: Ask the person who has survived an accident. To understand the value of one millisecond: Ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics. Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special. |

Praise Report
We began a DOZ group last April and what a blessing it has been. God has done and is doing marvelous things for our children and their children. My only two granddaughters, ages six and four, received the Holy Ghost this past year. We have seen some of the children we are praying for return to their first love. -Linda B, Ladies Ministry Director, CGC, Madison
Prayer Idea
Ideas for prayer abound but there is one to which I have always returned. For many years I have selected a spiral of 3" x 5" ruled index cards from Walmart for $1.28. On each card I carefully write with a bold black marker various names of people for whom I pray on a regular basis. Write your request on large block letters and don't crowd the page with too much information. That way you can see your prayer request readily and flip to the next card. Take them with you wherever you go! Put a check mark on the particular card when you hear or see progress. Pray some big prayers for your family and expect a miracle for sons and daughters and your local church. -Thomas Suey, International Prayer Coordinator, World Network of Prayer |

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; ...honor to whom honor is due. -Romans 13:7 Daughters of Zion: 1999, World Network of Prayer Director, Thetus Tenney shared an interesting article about the Praying Mothers of Brazil with Gwyn Oakes. Sister Oakes had a burden for this type of ministry and Sister Tenney suggested it as a venture for the Ladies Division. Sister Oakes shared her burden with the National Ladies Committee. Ruth Harvey expressed a desire to work with the program and was chosen as director. From the many titles submitted Daughters of Zion was chosen. Debbie Akers joined as editor of the Daughters of Zion newsletter. | |
