WHO WILL CALL US TO PRAYER?   By Rev. Thomas Suey

If a well-known personality like Oprah would call us to prayer there would be an overwhelming response-for a while. When man calls man to prayer, you will get some response in the initial stages. The real call must come from God and there is no greater mandate for prayer found in the Scriptures than II Chronicles 7:14.

Joel 2:1 "Blow a trumpet in Zion and sound an alarm in my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land tremble . . ." You would think that when God Himself sends out the alarm and a call to prayer that everyone would respond instantly. God is speaking but are we listening to what the Spirit is saying?

You can readily see that America's cup of iniquity is filling rapidly. Genesis 15:16 "for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full." The very activities that brought other previous civilizations to their demise are all working in our great nation (and others).

Take another look at the proposition God made-"My people who are called by My name" are the ones to whom He is speaking. That call is narrowed to a special group of people.

Now consider the group to whom the call to prayer has not been given; not to the president; prime minister, secretary of state, the king/queen, senators or congressman. No.

We often think, "If only those people would humble themselves and seek God's face..." That is exactly what this verse is NOT saying. The call to prayer here is not given to the world, the political systems, nor to the nation! The call is exclusively to the people who are called by His Name.

No political body or even the president can legislate the healing that we need. Governments cannot give us revival, it only comes through prayer! Prayer in turn affects governmental bodies and leaders. God's people are the only ones who can pray the prayers that heal the land!

The sign shown will soon be available from WNOP. (Check with local zoning ordinances before display) Why not have everyone in your church place a sign?

ARE YOU A WORRIER OR A WARRIOR?   By Blanca Gamon

Some time ago I was having a serious talk with my son about the things kids do to make a parent's stomach churn. Looking at me, he said, "I never realized you were such a worrier"!  Mom, I know you pray but you can't be both a worrier and a warrior"!  It made me stop and think.

Here was a thought that should revolutionize every mother and cause us to stop and ask the question.  "Which am I, a worrier or a warrior?"  We are in a battle and no matter how old our children are, we fight daily for their souls.

I went through a time where I felt numb.  I just could not pray!  Our kids never stopped going to church but we saw their struggles to pray and consecrate, struggles with schoolwork, boyfriend and girlfriend dilemmas and just stuff.  As I sought the Lord, one word came to my mind.  Control.  I did not have control over things that our children were experiencing and that can be painful.  One thing was certain; God was still in control.  Once again I searched out faithful verses like Psalm 94:17 that say, "Unless the Lord had been my help...", Phil. 4:6 "but in EVERYTHING by prayer...and Is. 59:1, "...neither is His ear heavy". God's word empowered me to practice casting my cares and anxieties upon Him, then trust Him and see His faithfulness anew!

So am I a worrier or a warrior?  Oh, I still worry, but these days I can honestly say I am not allowing worry to anguish me!  When I notice they do not consecrate as they should or practice accountability, I worry!  However, I pour out to the Lord a heart full of motherly concerns and desires and I know He actively hears me and I rejoice as I see our kids walking in faith.

Let us remember that worry is the enemy of faith and it deters the power of God. Let us not bring our prayer to a standstill and we will see blessings.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; ...honor to whom honor is due. (Romans 13:7).

Daughters of Zion: 1999, World Network of Prayer Director, Thetus Tenney shared an interesting article about the Praying Mothers of Brazil with Gwyn Oakes. Sister Oakes had a burden for this type of ministry and Sister Tenney suggested it as a venture for the Ladies Division. Sister Oakes shared her burden with the National Ladies Committee. Ruth Harvey expressed a desire to work with the program and was chosen as director. From the many titles submitted Daughters of Zion was chosen. Debbie Akers joined as editor of the Daughters of Zion newsletter.
