Writers Needed!

If you're a good motivational writer with a blog or website and you want some publicity and more traffic, the This Time I Mean it newsletter and blog could use your help.

You would not have to write anything special. We'd put part of your normal posting in the newsletter and link to your blog for people to read the rest.

If interested in knowing more, please send us an email.

A FEW PERSONAL LINKS I WANTED TO SHARE

Greetings!

Welcome to the first TTIMI ezine of 2012. Now is the time when motivation wanes and goals are abandoned. Since that's not what anyone wants, this issue has loads of information and motivation to help you stay focused.
Celebrate This Time I Mean It Day 2012
Want a free Kindle? Watch this video.

First of all, I need your help - and I'm willing to give away a Kindle for the effort! This Time I Mean It Day, a holiday to celebrate success, is every February 15 and if you're willing to make a fun, simple video to help me promote it, you could get a Kindle. The details are in the video above and more information about the holiday is in the newsletter below

But Wait! There's More! Our main article pokes a bit of playful fun at those of us who get a little "bogged down" in details and over plan (I'm guilty!). This month's blog postings include tips on the "3 L's: listening, learning, and letting go." In the video section there is a funny and unique cartoon about procrastination, a look at the planet's largest miniature world (sic), and an interview which will give you insights into why we give up on our goals.  (Speaking of such, I have put together the ultimate motivational package. It's here and it will save you over $500!)

If all that wasn't enough, we have two guest authors providing practical advice setting goals and keeping up your resolutions

Improve your health, enhance your relationships with two FREE teleconferences!

In honor of "This Time I Mean it Week," our very successful "Getting Past What Holds You Back" series of inspirational conversations will have not one - but two - exciting guests. Mark your calendar!

Improve your Health on February 22

Not only did she survive a ten-minute cardiac arrest, the cesarean delivery of her daughters and open-heart surgery, all on the same day - she gained new perspective and passion for life. Eliz has since developed strategies to fit activity and healthy habits into her life. She lost the more than the 80 pounds she gained while pregnant and has since become a recreational triathlete. With over 25 years of coaching, consulting, and clinical experience, she has helped hundreds of couples, individuals, and business professionals, cope with these negative forces and regain control of their lives.

The Over-Organized To Do List

"Yay! I am finally moving forward on my goals for the year!"

"Good for you! So, what are these great plans you have?"

"Well, I always make resolutions and then I give up. So, I did some research and I found out that experts say if you're really serious, you have to write them down. So I got organized. I got all these 'to-do' lists, each broken down by priority, category, and deadline. And because we're more likely to change when we focus on the rewards instead of the work, I've listed them in this column, ranking them from one to ten. See?"

"Wow! Those are sure a lot of 'to-do' lists. You're going to get a lot done, huh?"

"Sure am! Let's look at my 'health' list. I want to lose 30 pounds, so I devised a strategy. It's right here. Step one, clean the kitchen of temptation; you know, get rid of the junk food. Then, go to the store and stock up on range-free, organic, all-natural, non-processed, low fat, low-sodium, high-fiber foods..."

videosVideos of the Month
We all like videos and the most popular links in the newsletter are therefore the videos I post. I work on finding videos that are inspirational, educational, and humorous.

Video #1: "Procrastination" Tales of Mere Existence

This extremely clever video takes a very different look at how we start out to "get a lot of stuff done" and, before we know it, we've wasted a whole day. The animation technique helps make it even more entertaining.

Video #2: The World's Largest "Miniature" World

It cover 1300 square meters with 13 KM of track, this is more than an elaborate model railroad. It has everything from cruise ships to space ships. There are over 200,000 miniature people in it.

Video #3: Richard Bandler on Making Change Stick

Mr. Bandler, co-creator of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) discusses the unrealistic views we sometimes have about making long-term change. I found his insights fascinating and enlightening. I am sure you will too.

(Note: the videos are not embedded in this email. To view them, click on the picture and they'll take you to a location at my blog where you can view them.)   VOTM1

Slow Down and Listen
Our minds listen "faster" than people can speak. So we sometimes don't take the time so slow down and really listen to what others are telling us. We respond to what we think they're saying, not necessarily what they are really saying. Read the Full Post

Focusing on Success
It's frustrating when we compare where we are to where we want to go. It's better to compare where you are to where you started. That way, you'll see the progress. Read the Full Post

No Matter Our Age, We're Still Learning
This process does not end when we move away from our parents. It is a sequence that presents itself continually: Frustration. Lesson. Acceptance. Progress. Repeat cycle as necessary until learned. Read the Full Post

Forgiveness is More Powerful than Condemnation
Sometimes, we hang on to "bad feelings" because we think we are punishing someone for what he or she did. The reality is that they are unaware of it and it doesn't affect them in the slightest. Actually, it holds us back and hurts us. Read the Full Post

Control Issues Anyone?
If you're having trouble getting on the same page with someone else, it's important to remember that the only person you control is yourself. Obviously, what you're doing now is not getting you what you want (unless it's a disagreement). You might as well try something else. Read the Full Post

Setting and Achieving Resolutions

By Danielle

It's easy to say resolutions don't work and leave it at that, but the simple truth is that I got distracted by fantasies of my "New Me!" results and didn't consider the effort and expense required by the massive changes I was taking on. When setting goals, it's best to be realistic.  Read the Full Post

Amazing Deal if You Live in the Northwest
Scott "Q" Marcus conducting a training in Texas

I can make a very special financial arrangement with your organization if we can work together in May, 2012.

I have a couple engagements in Oregon and Washington during mid May, 2012

Why does this help YOU?

That schedule gives me some days with nothing to do. I'd rather use my time working with organizations or individuals who could use my help. So, if you know someone who would like great content to help:

  • Improve Communication
  • Reduce Conflict
  • Lower Stress
  • Increase Productivity
  • Enhance Wellness
  • And, oh yes, have fun!

I prefer folks who have a budget - but since I'm on the road, I'll consider certain pro-bono and "lower-fee" engagements. I will also waive my travel fees! All of this could result in a potential savings of thousands of dollars!  I'll provide you whatever you need to help me. All I need is contact information and why you think I would be of help. We would need to talk just a few minutes to see if there's a potential. (You can also to someone else you think might be able to take advantage of this offer.)

Are You Ready for This Time I Mean It Day 2012?
TTIMIDayI know! I know! You're all excited because THIS TIME I MEAN IT DAY is right around the corner; February 15 to be exact.

reach image leftThis Time I Mean It Day is exactly six weeks after the beginning of the new year. It a day to recommit to the changes we had promised ourselves at the beginning of the year - and what better day than the day after the holiday that's dedicated to commitment?

To celebrate it, all we ask you to do is re-commit to a goal you previously had, but let slide away, and then to tell others about it. (If you're willing to make a video about it, you could win a great gift starting with next month's ezine - but more about that next month.)

If you'd like to know more about the holiday, you can go to www.ThisTimeIMeanItDay.com. If you would like to see a video showing how some folks celebrated it in 2011, click here or on the image below.

With Gratitude
"Take some time everyday to be grateful - especially at those times when it's difficult to do so" - from the Shade of a Tree is the Very Best Shade There is

It's important to be thankful, so at the end of my newsletter, I express it publicly.  With that in mind, just some of the people to whom I am grateful include: the Mastermind Alliance; Humboldt Speakers; the Northcoast Small Business Development Center, Weight Watchers International; Mike Domitrz for his support in developing my career; my guest authors; Eliz Greene and Elayne Savage, my next guests on "Getting Past What Holds You Back;" Lighten Up San Gabriel, Covina Rotary, and Brightworks Inc.,  for the incredibly warm reception I received last month; "Merideth E." for continuing to work with me; as well as all the other folks who have signed up to be coached and supported by me on ThisTimeIMeanit.com; the editors of the newspapers that run my column and the websites that post it - as well as the people who read it; and of course to my family - especially my loving wife Mary Ann.

I am also very grateful to YOU dear reader, for allowing me into into your life.
