Greetings!
Over the last several months, I've been working on a project I find very exciting and I'm finally able to unveil it! I love speaking to people across the country and I really love being able to help. However, in light of the economy, the cost of travel (as well as being in my fifties!), I wanted to be

able to do that not only in person - but from afar. With today's technology, that's something that can be accomplished. So, as I would with any friend or client, I asked myself what I really enjoy and what people tell me they get from working with me and then figured out how I could merge them. Voila! ThisTimeIMeanIt.com was born. What is ThisTimeIMeanIt.com? In a nutshell, I believe we each have the ability to achieve our dreams and our goals. The problem isn't that we can't do it, it's that we either are not good at planning, we don't have the support we need, or we make the goals so large and cumbersome that they seem impossible so we give up. ThisTimeIMeanIt.com (I occasionally call it "TTIMI" for short) is designed specifically for people who are frustrated with the slow pace (or lack) of results they're getting in trying to change - and who really do want to make those changes so they will be happier, healthier, or more productive. Using special on-line coaching software, phone calls, emails, and of course personal contact and gentle guidance; I am now working with people in a supportive manner to help them "stop making excuses and start making progress." ThisTimeIMeanIt.com is the site where I can do all that in an organized fashion. It's a huge project for me and - to be honest - there's a long way to go to bring it all the way up to full functionality. Someday, I see "brick and mortar" outlets, cruises, and retreats. However, being the recovering perfectionist, I decided that if wait until I get everything done before moving forward, I'll never start. So, I turned the switch and started small, with some very inexpensive coaching packages, which I can do because of the technology, the software, and the fact that I don't have to travel. On the sidebar of this issue, I'm offering what I think a really incredible deal to my subscribers. If you're interested, take me up on it. If you know someone else who might benefit, I would appreciate you . That said, even if you don't need my help in that fashion, the newsletter will continue to be a complimentary service and I hope to provide you with good content from myself and others, motivational writing and videos, helpful downloads, and even a few laughs now and then. Thank you for going on this journey with me. Please let me know how I can be of service. Treat yourself special. Scott "Q" Marcus CDO, www.ThisTimeIMeanIt.com
P.S. In conjunction with the website, I have created a holiday on February 15 to celebrate our successes and accomplishments. I call it "This Time I Mean It Day!" (clever, huh?) If you would like to "play" with us (it doesn't cost a thing), join us on Facebook or you can find out more about it at ThisTimeIMeanItDay.com |
Five Things to do to be Happier and More Successful Starting NOW
Improving oneself is really not difficult. It might be uncomfortable. It might be slow; but difficult? Not so much. Figure out what you want to change; figure out a way to do it, move in that direction, correct as necessary.
So why don't most people change?
Our problem is we make it too complicated. Some of the reasons we do that include:
- We think simplicity means lack of drive
- We are setting ourselves up for failure to get people to leave us alone
- We think it will get us there faster

Videos of the Month
One of the most popular items of my newsletters has been the "Video of the Month." Since it's been several months, I'm including two videos. The first one is a short video about greed. The second is a very happy tear jerker. (Note: the videos are not embedded in this email. To view them, click on the picture and they'll take you to a location at my blog where you can view them.)

A very special thank you to Hennes Paynter Communications, for their newsletter, which is where I found these videos.

How a Cat on a Toilet Lid Can Cause Happiness
Should all change be as benign as modifying my morning constitutional to accommodate a furry, affectionate feline, life would be delightful. Yet, often, change crashes in; proof of the observation, "Life is what happens while we make other plans..." Read Full Post
Toning it Down on Both Sides
The heat has been turned up on the uncivil rhetoric espoused by politicians and media kingpins. As long as the meme is "both sides are responsible," neither side will take action. As long as we can point a finger at someone else, even if others are pointing at us, we have an "out," an escape, a way to avoid the responsibility... Read Full Post

Recap of 2010 International Inspiration Index
The purpose of the I3 (The International Inspiration Index) is to get a feel for how people are feeling, what's bothering them, and their outlook for the future. It started in late April 2009. If you would like to take the ongoing I3 survey, go to www.AttitudeIndex.com
What Most Concerns You?
Apparently 2010 was the year of the "Three Es." It's no surprise that the number one issue affecting our attitude in 2010 was the Economy, with Environment and Education tied for #2. Rating lowest on the list was Terrorism.

If You Need a Presenter This Year...
I have several engagements lined up for 2011. Once I'm "on the road," I like to maximize my time while traveling - so if you (or anyone you know) is in need of a lively presenter during any of the time periods or locations listed below, I would be very interested in hearing from you. Since I'm already traveling, my costs are reduced and I might be able to arrange a special deal. (Although I am looking for paid engagements, I do a limited number of pro-bono presentations per year for qualifying organizations.) What Do I Speak On? My presentations are described as "a cross between attitude 101, group therapy, and a southern revival." They are extremely interactive, playful, motivational, and with a great deal of content that helps those in attendance:
- Improve Communication
- Reduce Conflict
- Lower Stress
- Increase Productivity
- Have Fun
Where & When Will I Be Speaking? - End of February - Central or Southern California, Arizona, Nevada
- Early April - East Coast, preferably NY, NJ, or New England
- End of April - California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, Washington State
- Early May - Southeast United States
If you would like to see a short video that outlines my style, you can click on the image below & it will take you to a 10 minute video. If you would like to see and read about my most-delivered topics, you can follow this link or click in the Quick Links section in the sidebar. If you're interested in contacting me about a presentation for your organization for these dates and locations - or any others - click here.
(Please note, I have been known to do a presentation in exchange for great quality chocolate or enough french fries - but I'll vehemently deny it if asked.) |

With Gratitude
"Take some time everyday to be grateful - especially at those times when it's difficult to do so" - from the Shade of a Tree is the Very Best Shade There isIt's important to be thankful, so at the end of my newsletter, I always try and express it publicly. With that in mind, just some of the people to whom I am grateful include: Rich, Margie, & Jess, my local Mastermind Alliance, Humboldt Speakers, and my friends at NSA, who support and guide me; Rex Osborne, the Manteca Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Municipal Clerks Association of NJ, the City Clerks Association of CA, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, NorCan, the Redwood Community Action Agency who have all booked me already for this year; Northcoast Small Business Development Center, Weight Watchers International, my local clients, who continue to hire me; the editors of the newspapers that run my column and the websites that post it - as well as the people who read it; all the folks who brought me into their chapters, organizations, businesses, and associations in 2010 and the friendships I developed; and of course to my family - especially my loving wife Mary Ann. I am also very grateful to YOU dear reader, for allowing me into into your life.
