Believe it or not, the winds are blowing their freshness, and the leaves are tumbling on the ground with an assortment of colors. We welcome a new month filled with beauty, serenity, smiles and giving thanks. The past few months have been busy at UMF, which once again demonstrated to us the commitment and enthusiasm of our supporters. Below, you can read about our UMF Hungerteam Feeding in Orlando, and UMF PA's participation in Walk for Free Palestine. We also have exciting new events coming up, like the Poetic Vision Tour Concert at Rollins College and UCF Diversity Week's spotlight on Islamic Inventions, Interfaith Dialogues and Women's Empowerment Seminars.The strength of United Muslim Foundation is the wide array of support and interest we receive from you, which is key in motivating us to continue planning and sponsoring events that individuals, children and families can attend and benefit from. We hope you will participate in all our on-going activities, and acquire memories that can be cherished for a lifetime.

Project UMF Hungerteam
Alhamdullilah our last UMF Hungerteam event went superbly as clothes and canned food, water and bread were distributed to those less fortunate. We were able to collect new watches, dishes, mugs, stuffed animals, boxes of cookies, snacks, clothes and so much more! All items collected on the table were utilized by the needy. Thank you to everyone who helped donate and volunteer their time. Thus, we've decided to make this a monthly UMF event called Project UMF Hungerteam.
Every helping hand makes a HUGE Difference. We look forward to seeing you there God Willing
At our next event, we will insha-Allah be serving hot meals and need your help to pre-cook, and come out to serve the meals for about 50 people. Read below for upcoming events.

#2 Dawa Table Volunteers
MSA needs Dawa table volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please help out!! "Dawah" tabling is one of the most important Islamic works of the MSA at UCF. It's vital in bringing the Muslims at the University together who may not have otherwise known each-other, or known of the opportunities to be involved in Islamic work and events. In addition, "Dawah Table" is a means to reach out to the general student body in helping them understand what Islam is really about and how they can learn more.

The Salvation Army in Allentown, PA
is getting ready for their annual toy packing event and they would like some help.
WHAT: The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help review applications from families to be eligible to participate in receiving toys for the winter holidays.
WHO: Adults, age 18 and over
WHERE: Salvation Army, 144 N. 8th Street, Allentown, PA
WHEN: Wednesday November 3rd, and Thursday November 4th, 2010... each day from 9:00am-12:30pm
WHY: "O you who believe! shall I lead you to a merchandise which may deliver you from a painful chastisement? You shall believe in Allah and His Messenger, and struggle hard in Allah's way with your property and your selves; that is better for you, did you but know!"(Surah Saff, 61:10-11)

UMF Top Officer of the Month
 Sr. Zainab Alidina
UMF would like to recognize their top officer of the month, Sr. Zainab Alidina, who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership abilities and strong commitment. Sr. Zainab has led the UMF Hungerteam for more then six months now, which among other activities, is responsible for gathering foodstuffs from Panera and distributing them to shelters and soup kitchens every week.
Sr. Zainab firmly believes in good neighborliness among Muslims, either monetarily, or through personal effort. Born and raised in Lindi, Africa, Sr. Zainab lived amidst rungs of poverty and crisis. However, she recalls spending her early years with her loving parents and seven siblings. By age 9, Sr. Zainab was orphaned, and her mother raised all children through hardship and obstacles. Despite all this, their mother was able to garner money for their education, and send them to America to pursue blissful lives. Sr. Zainab now has three beautiful children; a high school teacher, a financial advisor and a soon-to be college student. She now resides in Orlando, FL and continues her good work with UMF till today.
We are proud to have a such a devoted individual as part of our team.

United Muslim Foundation is distributing free Discover Islam DVDs to churches, and other religious and educational institutions to help promote a better understanding of Islam.
If you would like a DVD set for your local church, synagogue, library, etc. please contact us at info@unitedmuslimfoundation.org. Please keep in mind that DVDs can only be mailed within the United States. Recipients are strongly urged to share their impressions with Discover Islamafter viewing. |
