Mark your calendars for the Project Downtown Orlando event towards the end of August 2010. PDO Feedings have been customary for a long time now; except this time, it's an interfaith feeding!
Men, women and children from different faiths will come together and join hands to serve the needy. Insha'Allah, we will all strive for attaining God's pleasure, learn about other religions, and perform Da'wah. If you would like to sign up to volunteer, please contact UMF Officer Br. Mohammed Jaffer at mohammedj@unitedmuslimfoundation.org
Also, if you would like us to consider having an interfaith at your local Orlando mosque sometime in October, please e-mail us at info@unitedmuslimfoundation.org

'Islam
is of the Devil' Rebuttal
Recently,
in Gainesville FL, students from schools and University of Florida
students
started wearing t-shirts that read 'Islam is of the Devil' in red blood
letters. 'Islam on Campus' reacted to their hate messages by holding an
Islam
Awareness month, educating others about the peaceful ways of our
religion. United
Muslim Foundation made a replica of their shirts, with the message
'Ignorance
is of the Devil' for students to wear on campus. These shirts were very
effective, seeking to stimulate bridge building and education.

Tent
City Report
From
March 29th to April 2nd, UMF had the pleasure of being invited by Chaplain
Miguel Rodriguez to host a da'wah booth at UCF's Tent City. For a week UMF
volunteers worked hard to set up, man and take down the booth and enjoyed
meeting students and others who were interested in getting more information
about Islam. We'd
like to thank our special volunteers who did so much to make the event a
success and the MSA at UCF for their assistance as well. UMF
Director Masuma Virji also had the pleasure of meeting with President Hitt of
UCF who attended and addressed Tent City to show his support for diversity and
culture and UMF volunteer and UCF student Saif Aman thanked him for making UCF
a wonderful place for all students to feel welcome.
