Each film has been professionally produced and includes interviews of well known scholars like Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, Professor John Esposito, Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick, Dr. Umar Faruk Abdallah, Sister Lisa Killinger and Imam Jowhari Abdelmalik amongst many others. Also interviewed are numerous active Muslims and a variety of church leaders across the United States.

The topics covered are:
African Americans and Islam, Islam: An American Faith, Islam: Faith and History, Islam: A Faith Hijacked, Christians and Islam, and Women in Islam.

In addition to the video series, a companion booklet is being produced for every documentary and a support website designed to provide further information and closure to those who seek more than just the video and booklet.  UMF will be distributing these videos free of charge to those wishing to learn more about Islam and Muslims.

Salaam Alaikum / Peace be with you

It's hard to believe that UMF is only 5 years old, looking at how much we have accomplished and how far we've come. It's exciting and hard work networking with Muslims all over the country to give back to the communities we live in and reaching out to clarify misconceptions about Islam. We've got our Annual Fair for Care in PA to look forward to this summer and Eidul Adha at Universal Studio's Orlando which will fall on Thanksgiving Break, bringing Muslims all over the country to celebrate Eid together insha-Allah! We're also busy this summer hosting our refugee family from Gaza and helping Kids House get all spruced up. Talk about volunteer hours needed to pull it all off!

Alhamdulil-lah, our officers and volunteers work tirelessly to do amazing work, but we're always in need of more help as we grow by leaps and opportunities to make a difference abound. If you are interested in donating to support our cause or joining the UMF team to share ideas and have them turn into action we welcome you on board. We've got several positions opening up this June from Executive Director to Secretary to Events co-ordinator. Join part of a vibrant and cheerful team that's making a difference. Rack up your community service hours too and apply for UMF's Scholarship. There are so many ways you can make a difference. Join us at our bi-weekly UMF Coffee Encounters at Panera Bread Lake Mary every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 6-8pm to find out more. You can also follow UMFHQ on Twitter and get updates on Facebook.  We look forward to seeing you around!

Constructing a Healthy Family Workshop
On April 19th, The Mama Group - with the help of United Muslim Foundation, Husseini Islamic Center, and Nasimco - hosted a workshop titled "Constructing a Healthy Family." Open to adults aged 17 and over, the event lasted all day long from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

The program, presented by Sister Marzia Hassan, was directed towards identifying "behavior patterns and conditioned thinking" within one's own self and then initiating the process of self-improvement by replacing negative thought processes with constructive energy and progressive action. A strong emphasis was placed on parenting skills, and the focus was on building strong family units by prioritizing family first.

United Muslim Foundation assisted the organizers of the program by providing financial support as well as help with media communications, childcare and volunteers. UMF also provided contacts and means for the organizers to approach local businesses for donations. The Mama Group extends its heartfelt gratitude to UMF for its much needed support and hopes that UMF can continue to sponsor such valuable programs for the community in the future.

Jared Box Project
Jared Box
Working with the Interfaith Coalition of Allentown and Al-Ahad Islamic Center, United Muslim Foundation once again took on Jared Box Project as part of the Interfaith Community Service Day on Sunday, May 3.  The goal of the Jared Boxes to lift the spirits of chronically ill children by presenting them with a shoebox size plastic storage box filled with small gifts, toys, cards, and games, sorted by specific age and gender.

Alhamdulillah, we had numerous donations and many eager volunteers, including several from outside the community.  After completing the project, the volunteers joined together at Congregation Keneseth Israel for a pot luck dinner.

All 51 Jared boxes were quickly filled as planned.  In fact, an additional large bag of toys was also filled with stuffed animals and other donations that would not fit in the boxes!  The Jared Boxes were delivered to Lehigh Valley Hospital and the volunteer coordinators there were very excited and appreciative of the donation.

Pictures for all of the various interfaith activities that took place that day in Allentown can be viewed by clicking here.
