Salaam Alaikum/Peace be with you,

United Muslim Foundation would like to take this special opportunity on Eid-ul-Fitr to thank everyone who helps to make all the little and big things we do at UMF possible. Each one of us has the power to affect change, to bring about a better tomorrow and make a difference. One way to do that is to go out and vote on Nov 4th. Make sure you're registered by the Oct. deadline in your state. Your vote is pivotal is deciding the future President of the United States of America, and as proud citizens we have an obligation to make our voice heard on issues by voting for the candidate that best represents our interests as Muslims and the collective interest of the people of this country. Make your voice heard and along with enjoying the privileges, give back of yourself through community service and sharing the blessing and joys of Eid-ul-Fitr with your neighbors and co-workers.

I just got a UMF membership form in the mail this week that is the most touching one I've ever received in over four years in office at UMF.  A young volunteer checked every box of interest, writing that he would help in every way he could. In the donation section at the bottom of the page, he had noted that he could not afford to donate, and that he was actually in debt. But these words, after having been written, were crossed off. Stapled to the form instead was a plastic bag containing coins in the amount of $1.34 - an amount that is truly valued and that will insha-Allah multiply manifold through God's grace to help us do our work here at UMF, and that will insha-Allah multiply manifold for this young volunteer in this world and the hereafter.

UMF needs donations, just as much as we need your prayers to continue our work. Our officers and volunteers work tirelessly to make each event a success and countless hours are spent planning and networking, all time spent freely to achieve unity and promote education and charity. We urge you on this blessed day of Eid to find it in your hearts to support United Muslim Foundation with as much or as little as you can afford. Every bit helps us get closer to meeting our objectives through various events like Presents for the Poor, UMF's Arabic Language program, Koran and Literature Distribution and Muslim Family Day at Fun Spot.

We look forward to seeing you at the Lake Mary Art Studio as we make Bowls for the Hungry on Oct. 2nd and seeing you all at Fun Spot by I-Drive on Oct. 12th for a Fun Filled Celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Have a blessed and joyful Eid.

Peace,
Masuma Virji, Executive Director

Care and Share

On Saturday, September 27, UMF volunteers gathered at the Husseini Islamic Center to sort clothes, shoes, toys and other gifts collected for the needy.  Alhamdulillah, the bags of donations filled the room and, once sorted, filled about 50 boxes!

Union Sports also pitched in by loaning their big pick-up truck to help transport the boxes to the warehouse where they were unloaded by HIC volunteers into the temporary storage that the Abdulhussein family kindly let us use.  Thank you to all the generous donors and especially the dedicated volunteers who tirelessly sweated it out while fasting to help make this event a success.
