Your Success Thought for the Week of July 1, 2010
|
During this week of preparing for the U. S. Fourth of
July celebration, many of us are caught up with family logistics and how many
hamburger buns to buy.
It is often not until we see the brilliance of the
fireworks late in the evening on July 4th that we stop to think of gift of
freedom bestowed upon us.
While contemplating this freedom that many of us take for
granted, I came upon some intriguing quotes. It was quite fun to see the
different takes on what freedom means to us.
Perhaps one of these quotes will give you pause to
appreciate this precious gift.
"Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the
freedom to make mistakes."
~ Mahatma Gandhi "Freedom is like a bag of sand. If there is a hole anywhere in the bag, all
the sand will run out. If any group of
our people is denied their rights, sooner or later all groups stand to lose their rights.
All the freedom will run out."
~ Robert K. Patterson "Freedom is from within."
~ Frank Lloyd Wright
"Freedom is an indivisible word. If we want to enjoy it,
we must be prepared to extend it to everyone, whether they are rich or poor, whether they agree with us or not." ~ Wendell Willkie "Freedom is what you do with what's been done to
you." ~ Jean-Paul Sartre
"There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the
three things we crave most in life-happiness, freedom, and peace of mind-are
always attained by giving them to someone else."
~ Payton Conway March
"Money won't create success; the freedom to make it
will." ~ Nelson Mandela
"In our country, we have those three unspeakable precious
things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the
prudence never to practice either." ~ Mark Twain |
Enjoy your holiday weekend, be safe, forgive mistakes,
allow disagreements in the name of learning new viewpoints, and appreciate your
freedom this week!
