Your Success Thought for the Week of December 2, 2009
|
Let Your Brilliance Shine This Holiday Season
|
Walk into any social gathering and you'll immediately see how each person, and their business, is doing. We are transparent human beings. Each December, too many of us unwittingly wear the pain, worry and agony of unaccomplished goals on our sleeves. Fewer of us present ourselves in a brilliant light, excited about our life, work, and possibilities for the future. Before you go to your next event, consider what you represent, and who you need to be to represent it brilliantly. Whether you realize it or not, each time you walk out the door you represent something or someone. It could be your business, boss, cause or self. A friend jokes that she now dresses to the hilt to go to COSTCO. Gone are the days when you can go for a quick trip to the grocery store in sweats. Before you know it, your top client is looking at your tired eyes and sloppy attire. December is a prime time to let your brilliance shine, to focus on who you want to be in order to best represent your business, boss, cause or self.
You are out and about seeing people you've not seen all year. Don't let anything hold you back from being the best you can be. Envision your next gathering. As you walk in, you'll notice a variety of conversations taking place. In the left corner, a small group of individuals are talking in lowered tones, faces looking at the floor, rarely making eye contact. Each one is trying to outdo the other with how bad things are. Their faces are worn, posture caved. In the right corner is a group of people overflowing with laughter at the story someone has just shared. Someone notices you and welcomes you warmly, excited to see you, focused on you, not their worries. To which group do you gravitate? Which will provide a more enjoyable experience this evening, and in the future when business needs arise? Aside from being more fun, letting go of your worries and allowing your brilliance to shine this holiday season can pay big dividends in business well throughout the New Year. This week take a moment to look in the mirror before going out. Do you look tired and worried or excited to show people who you really are? Strengthen who you are, the presence you create - and then go out and have fun!

Enjoy your discoveries and have a grand week.
