Your Success Thought for the Week of December 10, 2008 |
Review, Envision, Plan and Execute |
The last few weeks of the
year are exciting, yet not in the way you might imagine.
Sure, there is a buzz around
you in just about every direction. In Central Oregon, the buzz is not only about the holidays
and enjoying more 'meeting and greeting,' it's about the increasing snow on the
mountain and the anticipation of skiing.
The last few weeks of the
year are also an exciting time to glance back at your year in order to review
and learn. How else can you make the most of envisioning what you want,
planning for what you want, and stepping into execution of what you want in the
New Year?
It seems pretty simple to me
to look back at what I did right in '08 and envision how I can improve upon
that in '09. Likewise, it may surprise
you but not everything I did in '08 was excellent. Through a process of going back over the
activities and results of my past year, I can see patterns or trends that may
not serve me in the '09. This is an
opportunity to capture and shine a light on what I do not want to drag with me
as I enter a brand new year.
Through the systematic
elimination of assumptions, behaviors, and thought patterns that didn't produce
the results I wanted in '08, I am in a stronger position to produce positive
results next year. It is surprising how
many people ignore the past when planning for the future. The past contains valuable information.
At GV&A, we've devised a
unique form and coaching session for our clients to experience this unique
process of reflection. In the past we've offered this procedure solely to
current and past GV&A clients.
This year is different. We've been approached by friends and
associates of our clients to extend this service to them. We've also received similar 'one or two
session only' requests from our readers.
Listening all of you, we've
decided to offer two sessions to you for the first time this year. One being the Year End Review session
mentioned above, and the second is a New Year Planning process. If you are interested in one or both sessions
please contact me directly for details.
In the meantime, use this
special time of year to reflect upon your highs and lows, successes and
challenges, what worked and didn't work for you. |
Enjoy your discoveries and
have a grand week.

Hi
Ann. I LOVE this one. I'm
already setting my 4th quarter
goals. It'll be so
nice to stand mentally on New Year's
Day and plan from here
what I'd like to be celebrating.
What a practical,
useful set of ideas. You rock! ~ Pat Matson, Paperwork Partners, Running Springs, CA
