Thought for the Week
Your Success Thought for the Week of November 26, 2008
A Simple Thank You Goes a Long Way
The last few months have overflowed with negativity.  Let's take this Thanksgiving week to shake it off. Open your eyes to the many people who positively affect your life.  If you put effort into this, you'll likely surprise your self with just how many exist.

In years past we've perhaps turned the holidays into a strategic planning project-where do we need to be, when, what do we bring, and do I really have to 'make nice' with this person?

Be gentle on yourself and those around you this year.  Know that, according to William James, "The deepest craving of human nature is the need to be appreciated."  Here are some other quotes to keep in mind as you cross paths with friends, associates and loved ones this Thanksgiving week:
"At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."
- Albert Schweitzer

"Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary." -Margaret Cousins

"Feeling Gratitude and not saying it is like wrapping a present and not giving it."
John E. Southard

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die, so, let us all be thankful.  -Buddha

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to merely utter words, but to live by them."  -John f. Kennedy

I believe that we can always make today better than yesterday with newly gained information and focus.  As great as past holidays may have been for you, this is your opportunity make this Thanksgiving and holiday season better than the rest.

Surprise unsuspecting individuals by saying 'thank you' out loud to them when you've merely thought it inside; feel that spark within and know who may have contributed to your aliveness or joy-let them know.

Be grateful for the numerous gifts in your life that you may take for granted each day.  Remember, the Pilgrims built more graves than huts.   If nothing else, be grateful that this is not your reality.

Have a wonderful holiday and enjoy your discoveries.
Ann
