"Living for Today - and Tomorrow"
Your Success Thought for the Week of April 12, 2006
Most of us have experienced one or more of life’s
challenges - perhaps even tragedies. An important
choice is placed before us shortly after this
occurrence: "How do I handle it? Do I hold on
to this as a part of my persona for life? Or, do I
learn from it and let go?"
One of the first things I look for in a new client is evidence of what they allow into their persona. Are they holding on to statements or old tapes from their past, thus impeding today's growth and success? Or are they fine tuning themselves with each new 'lesson learned?' Following are examples of old tapes that will most assuredly halt your success:
• My divorce robbed me of any ability to
trust.
• Back when I started this company
fifteen years ago, things were different.
• That’s the way I’ve always been.
Even in high
school I couldn’t __________. (Fill in the blank)
• Ever since being diagnosed with a life-
threatening disease, I am certain it will reappear.
• I was fired from a job. Everything
was taken away
from me. Client ‘S’ has been guilty of all of the above proclamations. In highlighting each statement individually, he saw how untrue and self-sabotaging they were. Today, ‘S’ only utters statements that serve to move him forward in the direction of his deepest desires. His written communication follows suit. He’s been promoted twice since this discovery, has taken complete responsibility for his health, and has in fact learned to trust enough to be engaged to the ‘most wonderful woman on earth.’ What limiting tapes do you play in your mind? How do these appear in your verbal communication? Unless someone points these out to us, we often don’t hear them on our own. Ask for and listen to feedback. Enjoy your discoveries and have a grand week! Ann
