Your Success Thought on "Romance"
February 8, 2006

Like it or not, romance is in the air the first few weeks of February each year. Some of you love it because this provides an excuse to show those closest to you just how much they mean to you. As your heart expands, so does your creativity.

While this rarely costs a cent, some of you have reduced Valentines Day to just another commercial holiday and have sworn to boycott it. And for some of you, this is a sad time with memories of lost loves.

Step back and acknowledge what romance opens up to you. Think of those first few hours, days, and weeks of falling in love. Call it infatuation, lust, whatever works for you. This is a time when your heart’s on fire and all else stands still. Your perspectives are crystal clear.

Your mind, body and spirit are fully alive. Things that would normally bother you simply don’t. You listen intently, ask and answer provocative questions and learn to see yourself through the eyes of someone who believes in you.

Their affectionate eyes build you up and help you to see what is possible for you. The world is your oyster. You are energetic, welcoming whatever life presents to you.

Wouldn’t it be grand to live each day in this state? While it’s impossible to carry this intense romantic fire on forever, there are other ways to reap the benefits of opening your heart.

The key is to allow this ‘romantic aliveness’ into your world from surprising sources. What touches your heart? The joy of a random child’s laughter; a stunning sunset or sunrise; watching horses gallop in an open field; a good rainstorm; the first spring blooms in your garden; standing at the top of a mountain you’ve just climbed or are about to ski down?

Far too many of us have closed our hearts to the joys that are right in front of us. We say this is a price to pay for being an adult. How can we be happy with all that is happening in the world? If that is your belief, this is your week to change it.

Romance opens us up, allowing expansive thinking. This week, open your heart. Eradicate anything or anyone that stands in your way. If there are activities or individuals who bring you down to a mundane existence, eliminate them for this one week and see what opens up to you. This is your key to success. Allow it to work for you!

Enjoy your discoveries.
