Your Success Thought on "Sheer Enjoyment"
December 13, 2005
In a moment of deeply proficient observation last
week, (people watching), I observed how serious we
are this time of year. It’s like an angry determination
taking over our normally high-spirited behavior. “I’m
going to get this done—stay out of my way!”
Sure, our minds are overloaded; our bodies weightier for a variety of reasons and I won’t even mention the drivers. If this is true each December for you, what are you missing? Enjoyment! You’re missing life’s sheer, beautiful and ever-freeing enjoyment. Arguably, wasn’t that why we were put on earth—to enjoy ourselves and surround ourselves with individuals and activities that honor this basic pursuit? Call it what you want—positive energy, adventure, fun, accomplishment—it’s all enjoyment! If you read Neal Donald Walsh’s Conversations with God, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, or even today’s most recognized business/leadership experts as Brian Tracy or Jack Welch, you’ll get the same message. Do what you need to do to attain your goals, yet also create optimal experiences for yourself, your team, and your loved ones. “People with positive energy enjoy life and love to play. They thrive on change and action, are optimistic, make conversations and friends easily. They start the day with enthusiasm and usually end it that way too, rarely seeming to tire in the middle.” Jack Welch “That one who does not get fun and enjoyment out of every day in which he lives, needs to reorganize his life. And the sooner the better, for pure enjoyment throughout life has more to do with one’s happiness and efficiency than almost any other single element.” George Matthew Adams “There are two things to aim at in life: first to get what you want; and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second.” Logan Pearsall Smith No matter how much you have on your plate, please take time this week to step back and breathe. Gain perspective. Be decisive. What truly needs to be accomplished? What can you simply let go of—tasks, hurt feelings, misunderstandings, ancient grudges? What can you delegate? You can even buy groceries on-line these days. Make this a week of change and new experiences for you. Find humor in things that would normally irritate you. Eliminate complaining all together. Look for solutions instead. Seek sheer enjoyment in unexpected places. Help others to do the same. Enjoy your discoveries and have an enjoyable week. Ann
