Your Success Thought on "Your Game"
April 13, 2005

People often ask me to share the secrets of highly accomplished individuals whom I coach to greater success. My response typically shocks these inquiring minds.

To reach greater levels of success in any arena, the key is quite simple--stay in your game. It doesn't matter if you are a nuclear scientist or business strategist. The rules are the same. Here are five important rules to remember. They work so well that 90% of us don't pay attention to them.

  • Keep your eye on the ball.
  • Pay attention to what's important to your success and let the rest go. We all don't have the same definition of success. Know what yours is and settle for nothing less.
  • Be intimately aware of who you are now
  • , what you want and what will get you there. You are not the same person today that you were five or even ten years ago. What you want in life changes often. Keep your awareness current.
  • Know that each day is a new day to learn
  • and discover more about yourself and what is possible for you. Chances are that you have things in your life today that you didn't think were possible five years ago. Keep expanding.
  • Never, ever stop dreaming, ever.
  • Allow your mirror to provide invaluable feedback.
  • Look not at what you dislike about your body. Instead take in the feedback your body, specifically your eyes sends you each moment. What is your body, which doesn't lie, telling you?
    • I am healthy, alive, on fire and raring to go?
    • I am exhausted, drained, overloaded and ready for sleep to escape?
    • I am challenged yet curious and intrigued? Eager to solve the puzzle?
    • I am ready for a time-out to regroup and make a new plan of action?

This week, select just one of these rules to stay in your game. If there was one that made you uncomfortable, then that will most likely be your area of focus.

For example, I often get objections to the mirror work above. It is hard for us to look in the mirror for more than a few seconds. A longer focus reveals more vital data.

Have a great week and enjoy your discoveries!
