What is really going on in the heads of older people?
There have been four interesting research studies providing insights into how our cognitive functioning influences behaviour. Each of these studies looks at the relationship of age and the part it plays in influencing how our minds work. You can read about each of these studies
How our sense of well-being changes with age Why are teenagers such a pain What are the special talents of the middle aged brain
How useful are "brain games" A health warning: Just because research appears in an academic journal doesn't mean it is correct. |

There have been a few ads that caught my attention.
The Specsavers ad achieved high recall figures and seems to appeal to all ages of people.
The Age UK ad from the newly launched amalgamation of Age Concern and Help the Aged had a powerful TV campaign using high profile celebrities. I was not so sure about the AARP ads. Well produced and with a simple clear message but I was left thinking - "so what" - "what should I do" Finally, a new TV channel - Vintage TV has just been announced in the UK. It is music based and has secured Paul Gambaccini (a well respected music presenter) as its main its main celebrity face. |

The media appears to have a vendetta about blaming all of the problems of the UK (and the US) on Boomers/the 50-plus.
The book 'Pinch', book published in the UK by a Government minister, appears to give these arguments some legitimacy.
I don't think that it does and decided to write my review of the book and subject. I have had great fun presenting in Ireland about the
business opportunities created by the ageing population and thought you might want to read what I said.
Likewise I am sharing presentations that I gave to the Royal Mail and to Unilever I think the content of these presentations gives a good idea of my latest thinking about 50-plus marketing. Happy reading. |
