Greetings!
So, did you watch Top Design on BravoTV? The ten week season just ended last week - and I have to say I'm a bit relieved! I was blogging on the show over at Blogging Top Design, the official un-official fan site for the show. I've recorded podcast interviews with all the contestants, which you can listen to here. We're also running a design board contest - readers were asked to submit a virtual room design around a Swarovski crystal chandelier - which was the episode 8 challenge on the show. Margaret Russell, editor-in-chief of Elle Decor magazine is our judge! She's currently making her deliberations. Check in here to see who wins!
Speaking of Swarovski, I am very excited to be heading off to New York next week to attend a performace of Madame Butterfly at The Met. I wrote about the newly refurbished Swarovski crystal chandeliers in last month's newsletter and now I get to take them in in person!
The holidays are coming and we're all a bit concerned about economy and how to down-size our spending without down-sizing our style. I have a couple of articles below - a DIY art project and a weekend thrift store shopping trip - which will give you some ideas on how to keep up the style while saving money. And stay tuned as I plan on more post like this over the upcoming holiday season. If I can do anything to help you get ready for the holidays, please don't hesitate to ask!
And finally, as you may or may not know, I play the flute and this is a big week for me! I'm playing in a recital tomorrow night in Westwood, MA. I'm playing with a woodwind quintet and we'll be performing the Nielsen Quintet and Gunther Schuller's Suite. Hard word, but a lot of fun! And on December 14th, I'll be performing in a Christmas concert in Needham, MA where I'll be performing Ralph Vaughn Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves. Wish me luck! (I don't perform nearly as often as I should!)
Meanwhile, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving spent with friends and family - whom we can always be thankful for!
Best,
Linda

Swarovski Crystal Palace Chandeliers
I attended a fantastic event at Montage in Boston last month where they introduced the latest in Swarovski's Crystal Palace chandelier collection. These pieces were unbelievably a-m-a-z-i-ng!

Weekend Thrifting
Article Subtitle

I did a little thrift store shopping recently and scored some pretty fun finds! I found both the silver plate wire basket above and the glass decanter below at a local Salvation Army store for under $5 each! Both were in great condition and could make up a nice hostess gift for the holidays. I was thinking the wire basket could be used for a gift of fresh fruit or cookies and the decanter could be filled with bath salts for a nice presentation.

DIY: Decoupage boxes
Article Subtitle

I did a little "shopping" at the Duxbury dump a few weeks ago. I found this cute pair of scalloped edge shadow boxes and I thought they would make a pretty fun DIY project. Handmade gifts are always special and definitely easy on the wallet.
