It's summertime - time for outdoor living and the big summer blockbuster movies. Have you seen Sex and the City? A new season of the reality design competition "Design Star" has begun on HGTV. I am hoping to snag an interview or two with some of the competitors. So, stay tuned for some of the inside scoop! Believe it or not, it's not too soon to start thinking about your decorating plans for the fall or upcoming holidays. It's not uncommon for furnishings and window treatments to take 6 to 8 or even 12 weeks to get in if special ordered. I've updated my website and invite you to check out some new portfolio pictures and call if there is anything I can be doing for you or someone you know. I offer both in-person and virtual decorating services. To date, I've helped a Califormia homeowner with her master bathroom makeover plans and other homeowners with how to get that look of their favorite movie interiors. It's amazing what can be done

Outdoor living
Creating that extra room
New technologies are allowing for better outdoor products. Those in sunny California have long been able to enjoy their "outdoor" rooms. But those of us in New England have a limited window of opportunity and often harsh weather to contend with, so the outdoor room has not really caught on till now. But, new fabrics and materials are giving us the opportunity to move outdoors like never before. No longer are we stuck with plastic chairs and having to schlepp cushions indoors at the end of each day. Here are a few options available:

Design Star 3 on HGTV
Design Star season 3 is currently airing on HGTV and I've been covering this reality design show. The winner gets their own television interior design show. So, the winner should have both design skills as well as on-air talent. The season 1 winner, David Bromstad, has pretty good design skills, but his on-air personality is pretty weak. Season 2 winner Kim Myles has a winning on-air personality, but her design skills are pretty weak. Hopefully, the season 3 winner will have a combination of both!
