Three parts to your Back Room Wines email today. Hope you can spend a couple of minutes with me. I'll try my best to make it worth your while.
1. Tasting events through the rest of the year are all set. They're fun, social, educational...let me say this: if Nobel Peace Prizes were given out for wine tasting events, Back Room Wines would win.

Come by tonight and learn about and enjoy Tempranillos from Spain. Dan Lee ("Young Dan" to differentiate the two of us) has studied hard for tonight's tasting. Ask him to explain the differences between Toro, Rioja & Ribera del Duero as you taste them.
Tomorrow night is one of our favorite,

UNDER TWELVE BUCK A BOTTLE WINES. Back Room's "Mr. Friday Night" John Danby, is hanging up his wine bar towel after this Friday's tasting. Tasting regulars, of which there are many, please come by and give John a great big "SEE YA LATER."
Ain't good bye...we're sure to see John on the other side of the bar from time to time.

Browsing the wine shop at

Do you like to meander through wine shops, read tasting notes, and take your sweet time finding the perfect bottle? Wish you could be at Back Room Wines right now, picking out that perfect bottle or bottles? At the new www.backroomwines.com, you can do all that except touch the bottles. I'll show you how:
1. Click the "Buy Wine" button on the home page or on the tool bar of any page on the website. (or, here's the link).
2. In the left hand column, headlined "Shop By,"
click the first item,  "Grape or Region."
3. From this point it's pretty intuitive. Just click the links that show up and find your way. But just in case, let me give you an example. Want to find our Pinot Noirs? Click "Domestic Wines," then "Red Wines," finally "PINOT NOIR" and VOILA!
you've find 4 pages of Pinot Noirs that we are carrying in the shop right now. Click any wine for a full description of the wine. Like that?
4. You'll notice that California wines are separated by grape and imported wines are separated geographically. Follow? If not, play with it a little and I think you'll see what I mean.
5. Nice bottle pictures on the wine menu listing, don't you think? Dan Lee works hard to get them all on-line. That said, if you want to turn a four page listing of Pinot Noir into just one page (I continue with the Pinot example), you see on every Search Results page the option of "Text Listing" and the default "Photo Listing." If you click "Text Listing" you get the full list of wines on one page, sans-pictures. When on a Text Listing result, you'll see that you can link to the wine description by clicking the winery name.
Notice that under the "Shop By" column there are other ways to browse & shop. I hope you play with them all. If you have any questions or comments, please ask/share them with me. Salute!

 LUTEA
Pinot Noir
Los Carneros 2007 $35/bottle
Combine all the qualities of Lutea Pinot Noir and, like a fine red blend, you have a no-brainer.
1) Made from organically grown Pinot Noir grapes from the cool Carneros, just south of Napa.
2) Luteau practices a "less is more" winemaking philosophy. AKA, "the wine is made in the vineyard...don't muck it up with a heavy hand in the cellar."
3) 128 cases made. This is micro-production territory.
4) At $35, a reasonable price for artisan Pinot Noir.
5) Most importantly, it's DELICIOUS! Perfect concentration for Pinot Noir. At 14.3% alcohol, will appeal to the Burgundy drinkers. Sweet cherry sensations and ample spice. Nibble of tannins in the mouth and on the long, spicy/ripe finish. Food matches run from wild salmon to grilled sea bass with mushrooms to most any pork or chicken dish you can think of to wild mushroom risotto.3 ways to
