THE LATEST NEWS FROM
WEDJ PCS FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Director's Corner

Even though it's still summer, all of us at WEDJ are already busy preparing for the most exciting fall we've ever had here. In case you haven't already heard, beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, our students will be receiving arts instruction from accomplished instructors from world-famous cultural institutions. We are fortunate to be partnering with the Kirov Academy of Ballet, the National Philharmonic, and the Shakespeare Theatre Company for our conservatory classes. We are installing a new keyboard lab where music students will learn to play. We are working with our partners to create amazing opportunities for our students that they couldn't access anywhere else for free. Check out our website to find out more about what students of all ages will be learning next year.

In the meantime, our summer enrichment program is 300 students strong. They are brushing up on academic skills to stay sharp for the fall, and exploring their creativity and building strength and coordination with arts and athletics.

Next month we will have exciting announcements about new teachers and opportunities for our students. Stay tuned!

Sincerely,

John Goldman

Teacher feature
Anthony Sessoms, Science teacher, grades 6-8

Every month our Teacher Feature highlights one of our outstanding teachers.

Anthony SessomsThis year I had four global themes-- famine, oil spills, renewable energy resources, and recycling. I took students on a field trip where we cleaned up a park and recycled the materials we found. But we weren't just talking about recycling bottles or cans, we were talking about the Earth's recycling system, like how the planet recycles air and water.
