Greetings!
The Kuhn Orchards tents will be full this weekend!  We will be bringing to market Cresthaven Peaches, Plums, Grapes, Heirloom Tomatoes, French Filet Beans, and Cucumbers.  Apples are now coming in by the wagon full too.

Now is the time to start preserving the bounty.   Pickled veggies and home preserves seem to be in every cooking magazine this time of year.  Another way of putting food away for the winter is dehydrating.  It is a slow process but the amount of time you have to put into it is relatively minimal; plus the kitchen doesn't get crazy hot.

If you are looking for large quantities for preserving, please talk to one of our friendly market employees or call our office (717.334.2722) to place an order.

We'll see you at market!!

HONEYCRISP is HERE!!!! HC Red Carpet

We will be bringing our most popular apple to market this weekend!   The name "Honeycrisp" accurately describes the flavor profile - Sweet, crispy, juicy.... wonderful!  If you haven't tried our Honeycrisp (gasp!) then be sure to try a sample at market and fall head-over-heals!

We also have beautiful Gala apples.  This particular subvariety of Gala is called 'Fulford;' it has a bi-color skin of hot pink and yellow.  This year's coloring is breathtaking.

We also have Zestar!, Elstar, Gingergold, Summer Rambo, and Jonamac.
Nostalgic Grapes
All season we've been told "we're going to have a big crop of grapes" and I don't think any of us really realized how big of a crop that might be.

We have a big crop of grapes!
grape clustersSidney's jaw dropped when she was told that 20 crates were harvested yesterday!  And then Anthony followed up by saying we'd have 10 more pickings like that.  At first we thought he was joking....he wasn't!  So, if you want to experiment with grapes this season, this is the year to do it!

We will be bringing Blue Concord-Type grapes (with seeds) and three varieties of seedless grapes to market.

grape pintsThe grape flavor is so intense and concentrated.  It puts any grape at the grocery store to shame.  The best way to describe how wonderful the grapes taste is "nostalgic."  These grapes taste like the ones that you picked off the vine as a kid at your grandparents' or your great aunt's house.  Our grapes are a must try!  We have them by the pound and in pint boxes.
Checking out the Cucumbers
After a winter of reluctantly eating store bought cucumbers, we are eagerly harvesting our yummy cucumbers! We grow varieties that you do not typically find in the grocery stores - delicate Asian and seedless varieties, and robust white and yellow varieties. They are sweet and crunchy - and you will never experience the undesirable bitter aftertaste with our cucumbers.

They are delicious fresh - sliced to top salads or to add a nice crunch in your sandwich. A cucumber slaw is always a refreshing side dish - just marinate the cucumbers with onions in sugar, vinegar, and a bit of water. Or if you are feeling ambitious, they are delicious pickled.  cucumbers sliced cucumbers
