NATURE CLUB EXCURSION REPORT
|
GERRY AND ULLA SWART ORGANIZED ANOTHER SUPERB NATURE CLUB OUTING THIS TIME TO THE NEW NAPLES CONSERVANCY ON TUESDAY MAY 22, 2012
We had a successful visit to the conservancy. Our group of 19 persons met at the entrance pavilion. At 10:30 our nature guide Lilly started our
"Sneak Peak" tour with a visit to the "Dalton Discovery Center" a brand new learning center with exhibits about water flow, the dry scrub areas, birds, turtles and other marine life, as well as the mangroves. The discovery center has great learning tools for our children.
Our next stop was at the "Von Arx Wildlife Rehab Clinic" a state of the art facility to treat the 3000+ injured animals that are taken to the conservancy annually. (in the past the number of animals was only a few hundred.)
Afterwards, our guide took us to the "Shotwell Wavering Filter March" and showed us a red tail hawk, with an injured right wing.
All of us had a nice lunch at the Cheese Cake Factory at the Coastland Mall enjoying pleasant conversations.
