Luncheon -
Monday, April 9
Dr. Jay Wolff is this month's presenter with the topic:
Piracy is Alive and Well
Long John Silver, with his eye-patch, hook, and parrot on his shoulder, is our fantasy image of a pirate. Real pirates today are not entertaining at all. Just as in the days of yore, they still live on robbery, kidnapping, and murder. Captain Kidd is now an entrepreneur with a smart phone and machine gun. Dr. Jay Wolff took his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at Georgetown University. He was elected a member of the British Royal Society of Health, and is a former member of the faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University's Renaissance Academy. He has published more than a hundred articles on history and culture and healthcare in professional journals as well as American Heritage, Forbes, American Legacy, the Washington Post, and The L.A. Times. He has also been a commentator on The History Channel. Dr. Wolff is an enthusiastically received destination lecturer who brings history to life with stories of the people and events that changed the world.
MENU: The entrée is Roast Pork Loin Oriental with Ginger-soy-apricot Glaze and Asian Rice Pilaf. The alternative entrée is a Vegetable Plate or a Fruit Plate. Rolls, coffee, iced tea, lemonade and fountain soda are included. Dessert is Apple Pie. Spouses and guests are welcome. The cost is $25 per person. Those who have prepaid can go directly to the coffee/ice tea stations after 11:15 a.m. The courtesy table is for those who need to pick up their name tags, special, food-selection place cards, etc. Lunch begins at 12 noon.

President's Letter

Dear IMCA Members,
This is my last newsletter to you as president. In leading the club over the past year and a half, my overriding goal has been to improve and enhance the membership experience to you, our members.
To that end, we have placed high priority on strengthening our flagship monthly luncheon program, bringing you a variety of dynamic and interesting spreakers such as Dr. Susan McManus sharing her insights on the upcoming elections, Dolf von Arx speaking on the Russian Bear vs. the Chinese Dragon, Pat Dorsey telling us Why Not to Trust the Financial Media, Derek Bell, 5-time Le Mans winner, highlighting the Experiences of an International Car Racing Champion, and C. Michael Armstrong, former Chairman and CEO of AT&T, sharing his experiences on the importance of Ethics in Business. I hope you have found these luncheon programs both enlightening and enjoyable.
We have also provided a great slate of social activities that many of you have enjoyed: our ever popular Dine-Out and Cocktails & Conversation programs, our highly successful Holiday Dinner Dance, our enjoyable day at the Ringling Brothers Museum in Sarasota, our sold-out excursion to the Opera Naples production of Faust, which received rave reviews, and a host of other activities such as Stammtisch, Book Club, and Nature Club. All our activities aim to provide enjoyable opportunities to "Build Bridges of Friendship" among our members.
To keep you informed of the many activities your club offers, we have improved the frequency and quality of our communications. We have expanded our membership and increased its diversity. Our club rests on a sound financial position. And we have strengthened our board's functioning, focusing on key decisions that make a difference in our membership experience.
I have been proud to serve as your president and am very pleased to turn over a strong and vibrant club to the next president, Henry Pfendt, who will take office on May 1.
Thank you for your support over the last year, and all good wishes.
Karl
