REPORT ON MARCH NATURE CLUB OUTING

 

 

Dear Nature Friends,

 Babcock Ranch 1 

          Our excursion to the Babcock Ranch and the Wildlife Adventure Tour was a great success. All 29 nature friends arrived well in time to wander through the various nature exhibits and the "Country Store". 

  

Babcock Ranch 2The Tour took us through the meadows of the ranch, where we met a small herd of the original Florida "Cracker Cattle".

Passing through the beautiful Cypress  Swamp we encountered many alligators. On several occasion, we saw alligators with the mother.

During the tour we got a lot of interesting information about the life on  a ranch in the early days and also saw several of the original ranch buildings.

In the Pine and Oak  woods we saw a variety of birds and a flock wild turkeys.

We enjoyed a  pleasant lunch and camaraderie in the "Gator Shack" restaurant. Quite a few of us bought some delicious Palmetto Blossom Honey in the Crescent B Ranch country store.
