      It is still time to join us for the IMCA

      Nature excursion in 2012 to the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve on January 17, 2012 at 10:00AM. 

          Our schedule is: 

      10:00-11:00am- Guided tour of exhibits, nature store, Rookery Bay film.

       11:00-12:00pm- Guided Nature Walk   (Steve Mutart)

 

       12:30 Lunch at Erin's Isles on 951 across the from the learning center. Entree fee is $5.00 and a guide for a group of 25 costs $150 per hour.

rookery 1 Environmental Learning Center 

          The Environmental Learning Center is a 16,500 square-foot facility with four research laboratories, classrooms and 140-seat auditorium, and two story visitors center. The visitor center offers a variety of hands-on experiences, including 2,300-gallon aquarium and interactive exhibits addressing research and stewardship efforts ongoing within the Reserve, as well as a nature store, gallery and picnic area.

          The new observation bridge, half-mile "Snail Trail" and viewing platform are now open to visitors during ELC hours. Guided tours/Nature Walks are scheduled several days a week 


            We found an excellent restaurant for our lunch after visiting 
Rookery Bay Reserve.
           Erin's Isle, is just across the street from Rookery Bay. 
 
Also note a menu proposal from Mike Ward, the manager below: 
 
A choice of:
CHICKEN WALDORF SALAD
Fresh Garden Greens with  chunks of chicken breast, apples, celery, chopped walnuts and 
mandarin oranges, with spiced seasoned mayonnaise dressing, served in a fried tortilla shell.

FRIED HADDOCK SANDWICH
Fresh fried haddock , served on a Kaiser Roll, with lettuce and tomato, and side of tartar 
sauce  with French Fries or soup

FRENCH DIP WRAP
Shaved Prime Rib of Beef with herb wheat or sun dried tomato wrap
Served with side of A'jus ( beef consommé) and garnished with fresh fruit

All entrée's include coffee, soda  or ice tea, and Fresh Apple pie

 

$ 14.50 per person including tax and gratuity
 
 
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are participating and when yes,
how many persons and if you will lunch with us, as well as your menu preferences.
 
We need to know latest by January 12, 2012.
