Book Club February 20

 

 The Book Club will meet at the Glen Eagle Country Club on Monday, February 20.  The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. and finish up no later than noon.  An optional 

lunch will be available.

NEWS FLASH 

 

 IMCA WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

  

Gary Crisci is currently a First Vice President of Merrill Lynch, and lives year-round with his wife, Lorrie in Naples. He loves being with his family and bike riding.

 

Stefan Contorno is a financial advisor living full-time in Estero with his wife, Jean.

 

Saul Cooperman and his wife, Janet, live part-time in Bonita Springs. He is a retired educator, and presently an author who loves reading and traveling.

 

Nick Hansen and his wife, Susan,  lived and traveled extensively in Denmark and the United Kingdom. He is a lawyer and devices his time between Naples and Michigan.

 

Clarence (Gene) Hutcheson has worked in and travelled in England, France, Italy, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. He and his wife, Charlotte, enjoy their permanent home in Naples. His hobbies include golf, reading, and cruising.

 

David Pendergast currently lives full-time in Naples with his wife, Judith. He is involved with real estate and remodeling.

 

Hans Schmacht, and his wife Kathleen live in Naples and Germany. His hobbies include tennis, sailing, swimming, and cycling.

 

Joe Wall and his wife Barbara live full-time in Naples. As a retired engineering executive, he enjoys golf and jogging.

 

Larz Spangberg and his wife, Karen, are new to our group and now live permanently in the Naples area.  Larz is a retired professor who was born in Sweden, and loves photography and woodworking.

Our New Year is off to a roaring start. Nearly 90 people attended our January luncheon with investment and media expert Pat Dorsey. Our bus trip to the Ringling home and museum in Sarasota has taken place on January 18, and our ever-popular Dine-Out program begins on January 20.

 

February promises more great activities for our members: Stammtisch on February 1; Monthly Luncheon on February 13 with Derek Bell, the 5-time Le Mans 24-hour car race winner; Babcock Wilderness Adventure Bus Tour on February 15; Book Club on February 20; and our sold-out Opera Naples outing on February 26. In addition, we are invited to a luncheon of the Welcome to Florida International Women's Club on February 8. FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELTS for a dynamic February luncheon.

          Mr. Derek Bell, 5-time winner of the iconic 24-hour Le Mans auto race, will share with us "The Experiences of an International Race Car Driver." 

           In addition to winning Le Mans a record five times, Derek won two World Sportscar Championship titles and the 24 Hours of Daytone three times. His endurance race driving with Porsche teammmate Jacky Ickx is considered one of the most famous pairings in motorsport history. Derek is now a commentator for Formula One races and acts in an ambassador role for Porsche.

 

Please reserve early, as this event is sure to be a sellout.

 

Menu:

         The entrée is Homemade Meatloaf with mashed Potatoes, chef's vegetable and gravy.

         The alternative entrée is a Vegetable Plate or a Fruit Plate. 

         Rolls, coffee, iced tea, lemonade and fountain soda are included.

         Dessert is Bananas Foster with Vanilla Ice Cream. Spouses and guests are welcome. 

The cost is $25 per person.

 

          Those who have prepaid can go directly to the coffee/ice tea stations after 11:15 a.m

. The courtesy table is for those who need to pick up their name tags, special food-selection place cards, etc. Lunch begins at 12 Noon.

                 FEBRUARY EVENTS

 

           The Welcome to Florida International Women's Club has invited us and our spouses/guests to their luncheon at Grey Oaks Country club (off Airport Road) on Wednesday, February 8.  

          Their social hour and registration begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by a brief general business meeting at 11:50 a.m. Lunch is served at 12 noon.

          The guest speaker for this event is Mr. Thomas Eastwood, a retired G-man, who will talk about spies and espionage.

           The price is $25. Checks should be made out and sent to
