UNSUNG HEROES
This month, by unanimous decision, we are honoring two "Unsung Heroes" - Bob and Ann Mooney. "Dedication and Commitment 101" is an ongoing course taught daily by this couple. Not only are they always willing to participate when needed, but they are both famous for bringing fun and laughter into every task they perform.
Bob is a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and the 400 Club. He is also a member of the Friends of
St Joseph and regularly assists Father Perreault at daily Mass.
Ann was a member of the Connecting in Faith Art Auction Committee, and remains actively involved on the Newsletter and Finance Committees. She also chairs of the Sports Raffle. There is never been a better hustler at St Joseph's. No one is safe when Ann is selling tickets.
Both of the Mooneys spend every Sunday morning leading the team that counts the collection money after every Mass. They are also both greeters and Eucharistic Ministers. Additionally, Ann coordinates the Eucharistic ministers for the homeward bound.
It is almost impossible to find an activity related to church in which one or both of them does not participate. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful couple willing to give so much of their time and efforts to the parish. What an example they set!!
Bob and Ann have one son and three beautiful grandchildren. Last week, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a Mass and a huge party with family and friends.
Congratulations Bob and Ann!!!

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD The Children's Liturgy was initiated at St. Joseph parish in January 2005. Betsy Robinson started this program to encourage young children to participate in and remain interested in coming to Mass. This program uses a series called, "Celebrate the Good News Liturgy of the Word with Children" by Maureen Kelly. It was selected because it follows the same and complete order of the Mass. Each weekly session includes a homily, which is really more of a question and answer period. This is interactive. The children give opinions and answer questions about the gospel they just heard. It is followed by a craft reflecting the gospel. Betsy works during the summer, as well as during the school year, preparing these programs and the crafts to accompany them. The time and detail she puts into this liturgy is beyond belief. Two to three additional adults are scheduled for each session. Positions are as follows: Presider - receives the book from Father, reads gospel, conducts homily, leads profession of faith and general intercessions Lector - reads first reading, responsorial psalm and initiates the Alleluia Support - an extra set of hands These positions are rotated weekly throughout the year. The women who are scheduled that week spend time practicing what they are going to read; and, in the case of the presider, they also prepare what they will discuss for the homily. The dedicated team of women who assist Betsy are Marie Peltier, Pat Nicholas, Jill Halbruner, Michele Carey, and Theresa Galvin. Thanks to the Children's Liturgy, young children are excited about coming to Church and hearing the readings. It takes place during the 10 AM Mass on Sundays. The program is opened to all children in our parish, as well as weekend parishioners, grandchildren, and visitors. The children receive a much richer Mass experience when the readings are brought to their level. They love the multi-sensory experience of working on a craft that brings the Gospel to life. They hear it, see it, and make it. Most of all, they remember it! Attendance for the program has grown over the years from a few kids to numbers in the high thirties attending most weekly sessions. We are so proud and grateful to Betsy and her team for this amazing program for our youngest parishioners. |

FRIENDS OF ST.JOSEPH
The return of the Friends of St Joseph program was announced in the parish bulletin on January 31, 2010. This is a group of your fellow parishioners who assist those in the parish who need help. They will perform daily activities such as providing transportation to appointments, assisting with telephone calls, shopping, assisting with miscellaneous correspondences and/or simply making a friendly visit. This ministry is coordinated by Claire Lamb. She currently has approximately 50 volunteers on her list. However, she admits, as is so often the case, she has to go back to her "old reliables" when she's really in a pinch.
If you are in need of help or are willing to volunteer, please give Claire a call at 609-263-6885. It is an excellent way to assist your fellow parishioners who are in need.
