WE'VE MADE ORDERING BOOKS EVEN EASIER!
We're excited to unveil BookMark--our new order management system for the 2011-2012 school year.
Now teachers can report their monthly Scholastic Book Club orders to us using the BookMark system and see exactly when their orders have been processed for payment, as well as a breakdown of their order total to determine the amount Book Trust will pay versus the amount due from parents.
BookMark also offers a bulletin board feature so that we can post announcements to teachers and managers across the country. We're working hard to make your job a little easier.

Straight from the Source
"Mrs. Bradley! I read my new book to my baby sister!" | Mila Bradley, Nanaikapono teacher
|
Mila Bradley, a first grade teacher at Nanaikapono Elementary School in Hawaii, has seen first-hand the impact of the Book Trust program. She says:
Every student in the first grade has had the opportunity to choose $7.00 worth of books each month. The books are providing the priceless benefit of nurturing the love of reading not only for our students but, possibly, each child of the household. Now, children and parents are talking about reading, sharing interests, and building their very own library. Most importantly families are reading together.I can only attest to what I have seen, but I am certain the simple act of giving each child an opportunity to choose literature will have immeasurable effects. Students look forward with great joy and excitement to the day when their Book Trust books arrive. The extra points earned through Scholastic are also an added benefit. Our classroom libraries are growing substantially with content books that are new and bright!

New Center Focuses on Teaching Reading
Book Trust Attends MIRC Dedication Ceremonies
We were proud to be invited to the dedication of the new Morgridge International Reading Center (MIRC), part of UCF's College of Education at the University of Central Florida in September. The Morgridge Family Foundation (MFF) is a leading supporter of Book Trust in Colorado and Florida. See their video!
From Amy Friedman, Book Trust's executive director: It was a privilege to attend the opening of the MIRC. This center will serve as a resource for the art, craft, and science of teaching reading in an effort to advance international literacy through research, collaboration, and community involvement.
Book Trust and the MFF hosted a luncheon for the Book Trust schools in Orange County. We were thrilled to hear from school leaders about the positive impact of the program in their school communities. Thank you, MFF, for hosting the luncheon, and thanks to Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) Book Trust teachers and leaders for attending!
 | | John and Carrie Morgridge (c), OCPS teachers, and luncheon guests |
Book Trust is grateful to MFF for its continued support of our program--and to our funders, teachers, principals, students, and parents---for making the dream of book ownership a reality for 22,000 students across the nation this year!

Eccleston Book Trust Kids Talk About Books
And Adults Learn a Lot by Listening
 | | Ecceleston Book Trust students talk about their favorite books with Amy Friedman (l) and Lee-Ann Spalding (r). |
Before leaving Florida, Amy visited Eccleston Elementary School. Bonnie Jack, the Book Trust Manager at Eccleston, shared strategies for successful program implementation with Amy and Lee-Anne Spalding, a Ph.D. candidate at UCF, who is researching the impact of Book Trust in OCPS. Best of all, Amy and Lee-Anne had a chance to visit with second grade Book Trust students.
