To have the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator is a huge honor and has been a goal of Peterson's since my taking over the wine program in 2010. It is a culmination of much hard work and the blessing of the Peterson's Family that has allowed us to truly have one of the greatest wine lists in the world.
Wine Spectator Magazine annually reviews the best wine lists from all 50 states and more than 40 countries around the world. The nearly 3800 worldwide recipients are placed into three levels of awards:
Award of Excellence
There are 2842 worldwide recipients. Peterson's has earned this award annually since 2000.
Best of Award of Excellence
There are 878 worldwide recipients of this award. Peterson's is Indiana's newest member to earn this award and joins esteemed wine programs like The Carriage House Dining Room and Gardens, Joseph Decuis and St. Elmo's Steakhouse.
Grand Award
There are 75 recipients worldwide with none closer than Chicago.
The criteria of the Best of Award of Excellence is a wine list must have outstanding depth of vintages, wines from every relevant wine producing region of the world and cover all major types of wine varieties.
