Greetings!

Happy Spring!  As the weather gets warmer and I'm ready to shed the heavy layers I've been wearing, I feel a renewed sense of vitality.  I even get excited about spring cleaning - - not just for my home but for my life too.  Cleaning up our lives and our homes go hand-in-hand as our surroundings reflect who we're being as well as what we're thinking and doing.

If you find it difficult to figure out what to keep and what to get rid of in your life or home, below are some resources that will provide new perspectives to view your life, keeping you moving forward, always learning and growing.

You can start by identifying what serves you well and what you want to keep.  Then you can become aware of what to let go, making more room for what you want.  With a better understanding of yourself and building on what works for you, you'll be more energized to get rid of the old and bring in the new - - to go for what you want in life and more likely get it!

Happy cleaning!

Take Care,

Rosie Guagliardo

What You Want To Keep

Before getting rid of the "old", I realize it's important to first consider what you want to keep in your life.  What is it that gives you energy, motivation, and happiness?  This can be easier to decide when evaluating what clothes you want to keep or throw out.  But what about when it comes to who you're being, what you're feeling, thinking, and doing?

Below are some books, online tests, and exercises that can help identify what qualities about yourself you want to keep and leverage in your life, helping you be more of who you are and defining what you can do to make yourself happier and more energized.

StrengthFinders 2.0 (by Tom Rath) is an online assessment that helps you uncover your natural talents - - "patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that can be productively applied."  With practice and a focus on developing skills to enhance your natural talents, they can develop into strengths and make you more productive in achieving results you want.  For more information, click here.

Kolbe Index (by Kathy Kolbe) is an online assessment tool to identify your natural instincts- focusing on your natural mode of operating.  Once identified, you could leverage these instincts (i.e., your unique natural ways of operating) to be more productive towards getting what you want.  For more information, click here .

Enneagram Institute provides an online personality test that identifies you as one of nine personalities.  It further explains essential qualities you have, what your basic fear and basic desire is in life, and suggestions for growth.  For more information, click here.

Activity Log Exercise: For one week, write down what you do all day and night long.  (This is an exercise from the book called Happier: Learn the Secrets to Daily Joy and Lasting Fulfillment by Tal Ben-Shahar).  This exercise explores if you're making the best use of your unique talents, way of operating or being.  Once you're clear on what is important to you (i.e., your values), your strengths, and what you want to occur in your life, you can ask yourself if your actions are aligned with these components to help realize your full potential in life.

What You Want To Eliminate

Once you've figured out what you want to "keep" (i.e., leverage or use) and build on, it'll be easier to uncover what holds you back and how to move past it (in other words, what doesn't serve you well in life).

Below are books and websites that can inspire you to eliminate clutter from your mind, body, and home.

Taming Your Gremlin: A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way (by Rick Carson) - provides techniques for taming and dissipating self-defeating thoughts and behaviors.

The Shadow Effect: Illuminating the Hidden Power of Your True Self (by Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, and Debbie Ford) - helps you discover how to make peace with yourself, others, and the world and to find the courage to let go of what holds you back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching?

Wikkipedia Definition: Life coaching is a practice of assisting clients to determine and achieve personal goals. A coach will use a variety of methods, tailored to the client, to move through the process of setting and reaching goals. Coaching is not targeted at psychological illness, and coaches are not therapists (although therapists may be coaches).

It's a partnership where a coach helps to uncover what you truly want and helps move you toward action or deepens your learning about a situation.

Who hires a Life Coach?

You might want to hire a life coach if you ask yourself these questions:
  • How can I have a happier and more fulfilling life?
  • How can I be heard and have someone believe in me? How do I realize my goals and dreams that I know I could accomplish with some support?
  • How can I find the energy to achieve my full potential and get motivated? I know I have so much potential that I'm not tapping into for various reasons.
  • How can I express my true gifts and talents "waiting" to be offered to the world and incorporate them into my everyday life?
  • How do I show the "real" me to coworkers, friends, and family?
  • How do I find out who the "real" me is? What really makes ME happy?
  • How do I make a change for a real difference in my life?
