NATIONAL NIGHT OUT and SCOUTING
Throughout the country, municipalities with their law enforcement agencies are organizing the annual "National Night Out". For many communities in the Glacier's Edge Council this night is August 7, 2012. The municipalities and law enforcement agencies provide a variety of events for families and are looking for community groups to participate. This is a wonderful opportunity for your Scout unit (pack, troop, crew or Exploring unit) to show off Scouting, promote roundup events and recruit new members!
For more information about National Night Out go here: http://www.nationaltownwatch.org/nno/ This site will tell you which Wisconsin community has registered their event: http://www.nationaltownwatch.org/nno/uswi.html This site will give you some great ideas for activities to have at your local event: http://www.scouting.org/sitecore/content/home/membership/youth_recruitment/events.aspx
Whether your community is listed or not, the steps to participate are easy:
1) contact your local police department and tell them your unit would like to participate in National Night Out.
2) recruit adults and youth to represent your unit with fun things to do and pictures of your past events.
3) contact your District Executive for fliers, Boys' Life mini mags, and other materials
