GLACIER'S EDGE COUNCIL RECOGNITION DINNER

SILVER BEAVER AWARD

PRESENTATION

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glaciers Edge Council is extremely please to announce this year's Silver Beaver Award recipients.  It was a very difficult decision; with all the wonderful award applications turned into the Council.   The Silver Beaver is the highest award that the Council can bestow on its volunteers and is awarded to those Scouters who give distinguished service to youth.   That service is not restricted to service to youth in the Boy Scouts of America but also the youth in their community.   We are excited to be able to award the Silver Beaver to nine worthy volunteer scouters.  This year's Scouters are:  Greg Bergenske, Ken Bruce, Jack Hendy, Brian Higby, Phil Kress, Kathy Last, Ron Last, Dave Stirmel and Steve Shulta.  If any of you know these scouters please take time to congratulate them.  Don't forget to mark your calendars for the annual Council Recognition Dinner on the 12th of May and join them and their families at the official awards ceremony.
This year's Council Recognition Dinner will be held on May 12th,  following the council's Annual Meeting.
The Glacier's Edge Council Recognition Dinner will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Road B, Stoughton, WI 53589
The highlight of the Recognition Dinner will be the presention of the Silver Beaver Award(s).
A host of other hard working volunteers will also be recognized for their service for the more than 10,000 Scouts and Scouting volunteers of our council.
BeAScout
BeAScout
is now live! BeAScout is a Google Maps application to help parents find Scout units for their children in any zip code.  This is a very powerful tool; but, it needs unit leaders to populate their "pin" with unit contact information. A step-by-step guide for unit leaders can be found on the council membership page (link:
The BSA Adopt-a-School Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adopt-A-School

The BSA® Adopt-a-School Program is an exciting and comprehensive undertaking that will connect Scout packs, troops crews across the country with schools in their communities. Participating Scouts then work, within clearly defined guidelines, to partner with school administrations and offer the volunteer services that most efficiently meet their school's needs. With each troop/unit offering their school a minimum one-year commitment, meaningful community relationships are built and significant changes will happen in the schools.

A Note from Stephen Heck:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would like to take this time to thank each of you for what you do for our scouts.  I was very fortunate to have a mother and father who showed me first hand the importance of volunteering.  As a coach, scout leader, concession stand chair, fundraising chair for our school, Sunday school teacher they were the first to step up and volunteer.  I remember tagging along with them being the first one there and helping sweep up after everyone else went home.  Most of the time with little thanks or recognition.  I understand your commitment and I appreciate your sacrifices that you make as a volunteer for our scouts.  Thank you!!! You are making a difference in the lives of our kids.
