Health Update
Recently in the news you may have heard of the local outbreak of a Norovirus in Colorado Springs in several locations.El Paso County Public Health warns residents that Norovirus, a highly contagious gastrointestinal infection, has arrived in the county. At least five cases have been confirmed.
Norovirus is not to be confused with the flu, and there is no vaccination for it. Symptoms usually include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach cramping. The virus takes a particular toll on young children and the elderly, and causes severe dehydration. It usually begins 12 to 24 hours after exposure and generally lasts one or two days. The three days of contagiousness after symptoms makes it a really tricky virus. Click here for more information.

PE Cold Weather Procedures
PE classes are still going outside when the temperature is 20 degrees or warmer. The weather can change hour to hour so parents and students should never assume that they will stay inside. The gym can be cold as well. Students should be dressing in layers and have appropriate accessories like hats and gloves with grip. Students need athletic-looking pants, shirts, and jackets. Athletic running shoes are still to be worn. To keep the feet warmer, a student may wear thin wool socks. Feel free to ask the PE teachers for more clarification. There is a lost and found box in the southeast corner of the gym. Items will be donated before holiday breaks and at the end of each quarter.
