News this Week

Semester Exam Schedule

High school semester exams are scheduled for January 10-13.  The first exam each day will begin at 7:45 A.M.  The second (last) exam each day will begin at 10:30 A.M. and end at 12:30 P.M. and students are allowed to leave at that time.  Lunch and an optional study hall (from 1 - 3 P.M.) will be offered for high school students who remain on campus.  On Friday, exams end at 9:45 A.M. and all high school students will be dismissed at that time.

Junior high semester exams are scheduled for January 12-13.  Junior high students should be at school at 7:45 A.M.  Exams will be finished at 1:05 P.M.  Parents, please plan to pick up your junior high child at 1:15 P.M. on both Thursday and Friday.

A detailed copy of the exam schedule will be given to all students.

iTopIt Fundraiser

Support Vanguard's Yearbook by enjoying some frozen yogurt at iTopIt (on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd) Tuesday, December 6th. Planning to attend Vanguard's High School Information Night? Swing by iTopIt before or after for a yummy treat!

Drop your receipt in the box at the register! iTopIt will make an extra donation based on the number of RSVPs we receive on the iTopIt Facebook page!

Cookie Dough Orders

Cookie dough will be delivered to both campuses on Thursday, December 8th and needs to be picked up that day after school. The product is perishable! If you have children at each campus that have ordered dough, you will need to pick up each child's dough order at their respective campuses.

PE Cold Weather Procedures

PE classes are still going outside when the temperature is 20 degrees or warmer.  The weather can change hour to hour so parents and students should never assume that they will stay inside.  The gym can be cold as well.  Students should be dressing in layers and have appropriate accessories like hats and gloves with grip.  Students need athletic-looking pants, shirts, and jackets.  Athletic running shoes are still to be worn.  To keep the feet warmer, a student may wear thin wool socks.  Feel free to ask the PE teachers for more clarification.  There is a lost and found box in the southeast corner of the gym.  Items will be donated before holiday breaks and at the end of each quarter.

Spread the Word!

Did you know that the majority of newly enrolled families were introduced to our school by veteran families? That's right-CMCA families like yours have helped to spread the word about our excellent educational program to families across the Pikes Peak region, and we are requesting your help again!

Full enrollment is critical to achieving adequate funding and to create enough student participation for all of the various activities that we offer.

The Vanguard School will be hosting high school information nights on Tuesday, December 6th and Thursday, January 19th at 6:30PM in the Vanguard Library. Families with children in grades 7-12 are invited to visit the campus, learn about our outstanding college preparatory program, and meet students, parents, and teachers. You already know about our high standards, rigorous academics, competitive athletics, award-winning fine arts program, and character and leadership development opportunities. You already know about what it takes to be successful at CMCA and Vanguard: hard work, good character, and a commitment to excellence.  You may know of some families whose children would be a great addition to the CMCA family. If so, please spread the word! Encourage them to attend a high school information night and learn more about how a Vanguard education can prepare their children for success. Thank you in advance for your support!
