Helping a Struggling Student
Does your child struggle behaviorally or academically? An informational meeting will be given presenting three possible ways to impact your child's learning (and behavior) in a positive way. The presentation will be in the SpEd Room on the Wahsatch campus on December 1st, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be no child care available. Click here for more information.
Coat Drive Success
Girl Scout Troops 179, 463, 2222, 2775, and 4140 would like to say, "Thank you" to the administration, staff, parents, and students of CMCA and The Vanguard School for helping to make the Coat Drive such a success. Because of your generosity and support, we were able to collect 153 new and gently used coats for the citizens of Colorado. "Thank you."
Wahsatch Bake Sale
4th grade is hosting a bake sale on Wednesday, November 16th and Thursday, November 17th , to benefit the Medieval Feast. Look for our delicious baked goods on the north side of the building (by the marquee) after school on both days!
Sub Training
Substitute Training for people those interested in subbing for K-6 will take place on Friday, January 27 from 1:30-4:30 in the Vanguard Library.
School Safety
We are continuing to be vigilant in keeping our students safe from off campus threats. As part of our normal procedures we keep all but the main doors of our building locked during the day, we maintain close supervision of our students when they are outside, and we require all visitors to sign in and get a visitors badge.
Additionally, our staff-members are being extra alert in watching for outsiders, we have a staff-member walking with our students after school from the Vanguard campus to the CMCA campus, and we have met with a deputy from the El Paso County Sheriff's Department to get additional ideas on ways to keep our campus safe. The primary way we've been advised to improve security is by adding fencing along certain sections of the perimeter of our campus to prevent easy passage across our land. We are in the process of getting bids for fencing and are working to get help paying for it.
We are asking all students walking between the campuses to walk along Corona and St. Elmo and not use a different route or cut through private property.
If you have a child who walks to school or between our campuses, please remind him to:
- Walk with friends
- Stay on the sidewalk
- Avoid strangers
Attention All News Junkies CMCA Junior Forensics' team has their very first Extemporaneous Speech student competing in a meet on December 10th. This student needs to prepare files with articles, facts and information on all 75 of the attached subjects. In competition, she will have three randomly selected topics of which she will choose one to speak on. She will then have 30 minutes to compose a 3 - 7 minute speech using the files as reference and resource materials. We need your help to create CMCA's Extemp files. To help, photocopy articles related to attached subjects from magazines, journals, newspapers or print news articles from the web (please note the source of the article must be included in the copy), donate magazines, journals, newspapers such as Time, Newsweek, Christian Science Monitor, The Economist, New York Times, WSJ. All donated materials can be dropped off at the Junior High building A at the Corona Campus. Thank you for your supporting this great opportunity. Questions: Call Bethany 359-6669
