Ybor Chamber Member Spotlight As most of you are aware, the Ybor Chamber annually publishes our Business Directory & Community Guide and our Ybor Walking Map & Guide. Both of which are beautifully designed and highly utilized. We also promote our annual events, such as Guavaween and Fiesta Day, using event specific promotional materials. We at the chamber are very fortunate to have developed a great working relationship with a truly talented graphic artist, Kim Thomason of Thomason Creative, who designs our publications and promotional materials. Thomason Creative is also part of the team that does the marketing for the Ybor City Development Corporation. Thomason Creative is a small, experienced advertising shop that offers custom, high-quality design and marketing services. Some of the services provided include: branding, logos, stationary packages, brochures, print advertising, annual reports, newsletter, websites, e-newsletters and on-line banner advertising. In addition to clients such as the City of Tampa Economic and Urban Development - Channel District and East Tampa, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and Stantec, Thomason Creative does Pro Bono work for the Pasco Sheriff's Mounted Possee and Gulfside Regional Hopsice - Ride For Hospice. As the Director of Development, I generally take the lead in all of our marketing materials and working with Kim has been great. She is professional, but easy going, and fun to work with. We make a good team. Michele Keating Kim Thomason Thomason Creative P.O. Box 76094 Tampa, FL 33675 813-240-5212 www.thomasoncreative.com |

Chair's Message
Hola Ybor!
It makes me very proud to carry on the torch as Chair for the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce. It is a family tradition that was established by my grandparents, Adela and Cesar Gonzmart and now carries through three generations, including my father, Richard Gonzmart and my two uncles, Casey Gonzmart and Caesar Gonzmart, Jr. I can only hope that one day this tradition carries on to my daughter, Amelia, making it four!
I can't imagine my term beginning at a more exciting time for both Tampa and Ybor City with the Cuban Sandwich being named the "Official Sandwich of Tampa." The Cuban has always been a wonderful representation of Ybor City, combining the cultures of those that first immigrated to Ybor in the early 1900's - the Spanish, the Cubans, the Italians and the Germans. The Spaniard's contribution to the Cuban sandwich was savory ham, while the Cubans added succulent pork, the Italians topped off the meats with tasty salami and last, but not least, the Germans are responsible for adding the finishing touches to the Cuban, yellow mustard and pickles. Just like the layers of a Cuban sandwich, there are still so many layers that exist in our beloved Ybor, which is the reason why "The Cuban" continues to be a wonderful representation of Ybor City.
History is repeating itself... diversity is what made Ybor so unique in its founding days, and that still holds true today. Our community is coming full circle with diversity being ever so present in our district as it was in the turn of the century, and that excites me more than ever! We have a great year ahead of us and I look forward to sharing it with you all.
In the word's of my father when he was Chair in 1981-82...
Viva Ybor!
Andrea Gonzmart
