Ybor Chamber
Member Spotlight
The place for live music in Ybor City is Crowbar. Located on the corner on 8th Avenue and 17th Street, Crowbar offers concerts five days a week. If you are familiar with Ybor, then you know proprietor, Tom DeGeorge. Tom is a great supporter of the Ybor Chamber, taking the lead in this years' Ybor OktoberFest Pub Crawl. His offerings of great beer, authentic German food and live music in the Beer Garden were the hit of the pub crawl.
Crowbar offers a variety of music, from All Good Tuesday with $5 liters of beer and DJ Soft Rock Renegades to Old Dirty Sunday's old school 80's hip hop, and free hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwurst from 6-9 PM in the beer garden. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday night live concerts at Crowbar are a must for music lovers. Tom never disappoints.
Come out and enjoy this great fall weather at Crowbar's outdoor beer garden. Visit crowbarlive.com for all upcoming concerts and be prepared to have a great time!

Chair's Message
Greetings fellow Members:
It was perfect fall weather for our Second Annual Ybor OktoberFest Pub Crawl. And, I was "in the trenches" as a volunteer, handing-out t-shirts to a sell-out crowd. This fun event, started just last year, has grown from 230 attendees to almost 400. It features our pubs and patio bars and caters to our growing clientele of young-professionals. Our "prize patrol," lead by Past-Chairs Wes Miller and Marc Hamburg, was a big hit with guests.
We had another great event this past month, our 46th Annual Chamber Gala, where we honored Ybor's Moré family with the Adela & Cesar Gonzmart Award. I would like to thank Sandra Fernandez-Lopez, Elliot Wheeler and their entire Gala Committee for a wonderful evening. Everyone commented on the food, décor and entertainment. It was a very elegant evening and up-held this Ybor City tradition in great fashion.
Tom Keating and I attended the Republican National Convention (RNC) Host Committee's kick-off session earlier this month at the Waterside Marriott. There will be some 40,000 guests in the Bay Area for as much as a week in August 2012. Tom invited the Host Committee's head of operations, Matt Becker, to present at our November Luncheon. We want to make sure that Ybor Chamber members have every opportunity to host meetings and entertain delegates.
The Ybor City Chamber is producing Guavaween 2011 and we plan to build on the 25-year history that this community event has enjoyed. As our Guavaween Committee Chair, Angela Rodante says, "We have listened and the motorized-parade is back with beads, floats and krewes!" We are committed to making "one of the top Halloween events in the county," even bigger and better over the coming years.
Until next month, Andrea White
