Make History at the 25th Annual Guavaween

What a mad crazy wonderful idea!

(Tampa, Florida)  Join in the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Tampa's infamous Guavaween!  The weather this coming weekend looks perfect for all-day, all-night partying.  This year's theme, "What a mad crazy wonderful idea!" is from a line in Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland - very appropriate for Tampa Bay's biggest and best Halloween Party!

Come down to your National Historic Landmark District to participate in the free "Family FunFest" from 9:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon Saturday, October 30th.  Then return in the evening for dinner and the naughty nighttime revelry beginning at 3:00 PM.  Purchase advance and group discount tickets on-line at www.cc-events.org or buy discount tickets at Features Costumes (3015 West Barcelona St. off South MacDill Ave.) in South Tampa.

Try out those great costumes you put together for the kids.  Bring the little ones to the Historic District to take part in the Family FunFest's "safe trick-or-treat" on 7th and  enjoy the festivities at the Fresh Market in Centennial Park - where vendors will be dressed in costume for this most special of occasions.

Be a part of history - Ybor's own Tampa Digital will be documenting both this year's Mama Guava Stumble and Features Costume Contest on high-def video.  Show off that costume you've worked-on so hard and maybe even win the grand prize of $2,000.  Dance in the street at the 93.3 FLZ Stage at 7th Avenue and 18th Street or party late into the night at the 98 Rock Stage.

It's not too late to register your krewe, club or group of miscreants (at no additional charge, beyond admission) to march in the Mama Guava Stumble.  Go on-line to apply at www.cc-events.org or call 813.242.4828.  There's even a three dollar admission rebate for folks brave enough to stumble with Mama.  Your group must register in advance to participate in the Mama Guava Stumble.

Guavaween, one of "the top Halloween events in the country" (AOL City Guide) is a fund-raiser for the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce, now celebrating its 80th year.
