Valery Yershov Scores a Museum Exhibition
Another of Rima Fine Art's great contemporary artists has scored a major museum show. This spring, Valery Yershov's works were shown in a featured exhibition at the Museum of Russian Art in Jersey City, just across the river from NYC. Congratulations, Valery, we are SO proud of you!

Art as an Asset
Did you know that of the top 5000 most valuable artworks in the world, 370 pieces were created by Pablo Picasso and another 128 were created by Pierre Auguste Renoir? (Source: Skates's Art Market Research, 4/1/11) These two artists comprise nearly 10% of the most valuable works in the world; they are truly the "blue chip" art names.
Earlier this month, I "tweeted" commentary on Christie's Impressionist & Modern Sale as I watched it live on the internet. (My twitter name is RimaFineArt but if you aren't on Twitter, it "flows" through to rimafineart.com.) These spring sales @ the major auction houses are interesting in the way that weekly unemployment data (versus monthly numbers) are interesting to economists--more indicative of trend than anything else. Many pieces sold under the low estimate; several pieces with high estimates-- including a beautiful late Renoir nude of his favorite model, Gabriel--"passed" (the owner declined to sell for the offered price). My take on it? Within the "blue chip" names, despite the attention & press regarding the resurgence in art, solid pieces can be had at reasonable prices. Remember, many of these artists are deceased, so their works are a little like land: there isn't going to be any more of it. Good art is a viable alternative asset class that can effectively diversify& potentially hedge other assets within a complex portfolio.
Rima is proud to offer surprisingly affordable pieces created by these incredible masters including this original Renoir drawing from his teenaged sketchbook:

Freshen Up With Framing!
We all own art pieces we adore; I certainly do. They become like best friends that greet us each time we walk into that special room; in their own way, they offer us that unconditional love, acceptance general good feeling we pet owners become so addicted to!
But even a fine old friend needs freshened up, fixed, or just "fluffed". Don't forget that our full-service, on-premise framing division is here to freshen, fix & fluff YOUR favorites when they need it! Plus, if you bring your pieces in before August 1st & mention this newsletter, we'll discount your order by 20%! |

And just for the record.....
