Greetings!
Early one morning last week, I knew. It was that single day each year that you just know: "Today's the day. Today, it's fall". That crisp, almost palpable edge on the air for the first time. Fall! It's my favorite season. Hikes can now begin at 10 AM, outdoor cafes are delicious, & our hummingbirds don't head south. What's not to like?
So its time, too, for our fall newsletter....

Major Collection of Judaic & Biblical Art
A collection of Israeli masterworks is now showing at Rima including several remarkable paintings by the late Natan Berler. Born in Switzerland, Berler had his first drawing instruction at age 4 in Poland, & went with family to Argentina where he spent most of his life. At 60, he moved to the Holy Land, spending his remaining years in kibbutz, painting. (Shown here: Rabbi Reading Torah I, original oil)
The collection also features the works of master wood carver Ezra Ben-Joseph, who was born in Damascus and came to the kibbutzes of Israel as a child. They depict a pensive Moses; and are carved from ancient olive wood of the Holy Land. (Shown Here: Moses I original wood carving) |

Rima's Security Team Keep Watch on the Stoly!
Mashu and Chino, Chief Security Officers & Customer Relations Specialists remain ever-vigilant. Here, they watch over Yuri Gorbachev's "Stoly 1995", one of a series of works Russian vodka company Stolichnya commissioned Yuri to create in the mid-90s for use in their world-wide print advertising campaigns. I remember them on back covers of some of my fave magazines of the day-- --do you? We now have five works from the series available. |

....there have been no beheadings in Arizona. We are not afraid to drive at night. We sleep with our windows open; our kids walk themselves to school. According
to the Bureau of Justice Statistics
(BJS), the violent crime rate in Arizona
was lower in '06, '07, & '08 -- the most recent year from which data are
available -- than any year since 1983. The property crime rate in Arizona was lower in '06, '07, & '08 than any year since 1968. Yes, our fair state has issues. And wherever you live, I'm sure your community does, too. Please go out next month & exercise your constitutional right to VOTE. And right now, Arizona & the desert really are as lovely as ever.
