Greetings!
Summer is well under way here in Scottsdale, and those of us who bask in the warmth are soaking it up. (In August, I may well be singing a different tune!) Wherever this letter finds you, I hope you are enjoying your summer "dog days"....

What About Those "Investments of Passion"?
Pierre Auguste Renoir's original sketch "Buste de Jeune Fille"available @ Tima Fine Art | When economic cycles turn we all step back (willingly or not) and reassess. Today we have unprecedented volatility in equity and commodity markets, the real estate bubble has burst, and tepid business activity hurts all around. So where ARE the good investment choices these days? That depends--on your risk tolerance, desire for diversification, and liquidity priorites. You may have additional guiding parameters. We are frequently asked about the use of art as an asset class. There is no short answer; it is a highly personal decision. But for the right situation, fine art CAN play a role. The respected financial "CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Journal" has just released it's new issue with a cover story on the topic: CFA Institute May/June 2010. Want to know more? The Birds are Here!
Earlier this month we welcomed master carver Donald Templeton into the gallery. Don's wild bird carvings are meticulously planned to present a each species in a
purposeful pose and attitude. Working in tupelo wood, Don creates detailed feathering with carving knives,
miniature rotary tools and burning techniques. Branches and
leaves are of brass rods or tubes and are shaped and
soldered together. Bark and buds are molded from epoxy and
sculpted with dental tools. Acrylic paints are applied through
numerous washes to obtain natural coloration.
These carvings are from inspirations of Don's real life experiences, pictures, and photos--not
commercial patterns or study casts.
Are YOU missing the Arizona hummers while you're gone? Call us and we'll ship little Whirly to YOU!
