Greetings!
February's meeting: At this month's meeting we will have DNR area fishery managers from Brainerd, Aitkin and Walker discussing their plans, surveys and projects for 2012 in which the BLC can offer up assistance.
It will also be a great opportunity for people to ask a question or two about our fishery status.
Hope to see you all there!

BLC Grants
The time has come and the money has been raised. $8000 has been raised for the BLC Scholarship fund that will be released to CLC for students in the Natural Resource program to apply.
There are also 2 other grants that the BLC has recently applied for from the Hugh Becker Foundation.
1. Application submitted for financial support to continue with the muskie acoustic study which the BLC supported last year. The study will continue for 2012. We will also have the 2011 study results to share at the March monthly meeting.
2. The BLC has expressed it's commitment in the Northwoods Habitat Project. The Northwoods Project is to purchase about 2000 acres of land along the Mississippi River north of the Potlatch Dam. The section of river has multiple bays and spawning grounds for all species of fish that need protection from development.

Donation Incentive Program!
We are in need of people to help and get donations for the Banquet. Donations are a huge part of the Banquet's success year after year. To get the ball moving we have adopted 3 incentive plans that benefit people giving us a helping hand.
1. Turn in $1000 or more in retail value and get a free Banquet ticket.
2. Turn in a donation (minimum of $25 in retail value) at the monthly meeting and get your name in our special lure drawing. Turn in multiple donations... get your name in the drawing multiple times. Drawings will be held at each meeting in January and February.
3. The top 3 people that turned in the most donations, in retail value, will be recognized at the Banquet and presented with Musky Bucks to be spent at the Banquet. Musky Bucks work just like cash!
So think about it! Call a few people or businesses, knock on a few doors and have the opportunity to win a Banquet ticket AND free money for the Banquet! A win win situation! On top of that, maybe win some nice prizes at the banquet as well!
Please turn in all donations to Jason Bassett.
