2011 BLC Banquet Recap
The Armory experiment was a success. It didn't go without a hiccup or two. It was our first Banquet where the we did everything ourselves so all in all it went pretty smooth. We heard many compliments and a few suggestions for next year. The BLC has always strived to improve the Banquet and next years plans will be no different.
So how did we do? The final numbers are very close to being settled but it looks like the Chapter brought in $11,000. Last year we raised only $4600 so it's a great improvement. We have a full schedule of plans for this year so the money is truly welcomed to proceed with out plans.
Thanks to everyone that helped out one way or another this year! It was greatly appreciated!

Fisheries 2011 Issues
There are many issues on the DNR's lap concerning our resources. Some are highly contested but all need our input. Here are a couple links that we recommend you checking out and offering your input.

Muskie Stocking This Fall
The DNR has made their decision. Only 2 of the 5 lakes that were submitted for new muskie waters were passed. Roosevelt and the Sauk River Chain made the cut. Stocking will begin this fall. According to the new muskie/pike management plan, 8 lakes are to be newly introduced to muskies by 2020. With the addition of these two lakes along with last years selection of Pokegama, there still is work to be done. The DNR has made it known that they still have not given up on a lake in the Brainerd area. So we'll keep doing our work until that happens. |
